EuphToth Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I like the Al Cass. When I first got my horn I used the Yamaha, but somehow I could taste the oil in my mouth. Not a very pleasant experience. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I would say Al Cass for outdoor use. Great for just about any use actually... There was this other brand I tried once, and I cannot remember what it was called, but it's not listed here. My gosh...it was like I had sprayed my valves with teflon or something, that stuff was GREAT! Quote
Claritone Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Binak Pro. Don't know much about it other than that my teacher told me to use it and it works great. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 The one I use has the word FAST written real big on it I don't remember what it's called. Quote
EuphToth Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 That would be the Al Cass. I actually had to look up the name to see what it was. Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 i dont even know what kinda i use lol Quote
titancoaster Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 My private lesson teacher told me to use one called Bell's, it works so much better than al cass, but you can only get it online. Quote
Fortisimo Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Zaja is the valve oil of the gods- it works very very well, and it comes scented too! (Vanilla seems to be the general favorite flavor/scent) Quote
TRtrumpet Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I need some of that stuff. The one I have taste and smells nasty. Quote

It's like it comes out the valves back to the lead pipe or something... kind of strange. Whoo Al Cass (on my baritone) and holton electric rotor (For the triggers on my bass) Quote
Salesmonkey Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 w/e the nearest trumpet has. i rarely have to use valve oil since i play t-bone when i do the trumpets usually have this blue stuff. Quote
artishard Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 i can't stand blue juice. at all...it smells bad and it's just gross. al cass is alright, i've used it since i started playing, however i'm looking for something that makes my valves less clicky and keeps them as fast as they are...any suggestions? Quote
gavinrh Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 i enjoy the smell of blue juice...and the look of it...i'll have to try some to see if i like the taste Quote
artishard Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 ick.i really don't like it in marching season, when it just smells up the whole horn section.and i REALLY don't like it when it gets all over my hands and then i can't wipe my nose because then i'll smell like blue juice, which is GROSS. Quote
Hawkeye Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I used Al Cass, works good for my trombone. Stays on it too, but if I use alot, I can smell it. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 i havent used valve oil since the middle of my junior year... one day i needed some and nobody had any so i used my spit. it works very well. just dont not play your horn for a coulple of days cuz then they get sticky. but saliva is my favorite valve lube cuz:1 it doent taste funny 2. its readly avalible and 3. its free... Quote
gavinrh Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 uh i think spit can really clog up your horn with all the mucus in it... Quote
