Congratulations, Vista Ridge! Moving from 7th in prelims to Top 5 in finals is killer and a feat to be proud of! Keep up the great work and best of luck from this proud alumni as y’all move into BOA SA this weekend!

Congratulations to Vandergrift on the two time!!! Seems they are starting to build quite the dynasty over there, will be interesting to see how things are at SA, would love for Marcus to upset. congratulations to all our finalists and to all the bands who competed these past two days!!!

Absolutely!!!  They were phenomenal today!

Medals won by the Lewisville ISD big three bands in all of the 6A contests since 2014 and 5A from 2006-2012:  

2023: 2

2022: 1

2021: 2

2020: 2

2018: 1

2016: 3

2014: 2

2012: 2

2008: 1

2006: 1

18 out of 33 possible medals. That is quite a run.

Vandy only winning over one of seven judges and still winning is intresting.

Side note - Vista Ridge & Flower Mound tied in finals, with the tie breaker (judges preference) going to Flower Mound.

First off, BIG congratulations to Vandegrift HS, the first school since the addition of conference 6A to not only win 2 titles within the classification, but to do so Back-to-Back! 

A big congratulations to Marcus HS on returning to the Top 3! And I wanted to note, this is the first time in school History that Marcus HS has placed 2nd!

Of course, congratulations to Hebron HS, your 2023 Bronze Medalist! I hope they get the show cleaned and ready for Grand Nationals, because I really want them to take the win there! This is also the first time in school history that Hebron has placed in 3rd in finals! 

Finally, congratulations again to all the 2023 6A State finalists on an amazing season! To all who are headed to Grand Nationals, best of luck ya'll! and for those competing in San Antonio super regional, best of luck as well!

Congrats to all of the 43 state qualifiers and 14 finalists for making it through the 6A gauntlet this year. That is no small feat. Your artistry, musicality, and performance level are phenomenal. BRAVO!!

Coppell & Pearland also tied in finals with judges preference going to Coppell. Always interesting to dissect the results afterward!

These sheets are not the BOA sheets, so no need to overreact based on these placements. Go out and have the best run you can, that's all you can do

More tid bits from recaps - there were 5 bands that improved their placement from prelims to finals:

Waxahachie, Cy-Fair, Bridgeland & Vista Ridge all moved up two placements from prelims to finals. 

Pearland moved up one placement from prelims to finals.

No encore, at least not for 6A as there’s usually another contest (2A finals) right afterwards.

WOW BRIDGELAND IN 10TH!!! Outstanding for a program that has only been open for 7 YEARS!!!! So proud to be an alumni and watch the continued success year after year. Are they the youngest school to make 6A Finals?

 

EDIT: CTJ also made 6A finals in their 7th year in existence.
