Expand well deserved 10th place for B-land!! musically and esp visually they're hangin w/ the best of em this year. puuuure elegance, beautiful and clean vis program. 8th place ens vis, yep yep that checks out. can't wait to see their guard in WGI. large and in charge. gonna slay, can feel it. twhs' 12th woodwind rank is yet another one of my early season predictions coming true, go figure. was raisin the alarms on that back in August. gotta have your ens woodwinds audible upstairs for more than 20 secs or whatever when you've got a ww judge up there! it's a band, not a drum corps! u could see they were nailed in ww content in prelims, guessin' same is true for finals. cost 'em 4th place. other than that their ranks were fine. 5th ens music, 1st ens vis, 6th design, well that one's lower than id have it but im guessing it was a music person, either that or the UIL content caption is more focused on simultaneous demand and difficulty than variety/artistry/flow/creativity. bassfunction, Parkwoodmom, BlastFromThePast and 3 others 6 Quote

Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted November 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 1, 2023 Also, I do want to give a HUGE Shoutout to Marcus!!! going from 13th at boa SA and 9th at state to 2ND at state... I don't think people understand HOW hard to pull off that type of jump in placements is, and Ik this is a completely different group and show, but that's still super impressive, they are my dark horse to win SA if Vandy or The Woodlands don't, but an absolute historic season for them, and my favorite show of theirs in a good while, although I LOVED the missing piece BlastFromThePast, Keenoid, 2ndgenbandmom75 and 1 other 4 Quote

FEDude Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Good for Vandegrift! My freshman year was 2013, so I remember hearing about a new school winning 4A state. That year, everyone was talking about CTJ (the acrobats!), Hebron, and especially The Woodland's shows. Vandegrift kinda flew under my radar. I'll admit, it was a gorgeous show, especially on the music side, but IDK if it would've made state finals today. Vandegrift is making the same levels of growth as Marcus did from 2006 (where there could be a legitimate debate over who the champion should be) to 2012 (where there was honestly no question). So basically they're going from already at the top of the UIL latter, to even further up the latter. Great time to be a Vandegrift student! Quote

boppellband Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I’d be interested to see why Coppells percussion score is so low, seeing as they seem to win everything else, and from what I know are a top 3 percussion program in the nation. Would anyone be able to explain it to me? Not a percussion guy so not entirely sure how it’s scored. Quote

I'm pretty sure that their percussion show is way harder than their show music and they likely spend more time on their percussion show. whitewing09 Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 The contrast of Hebron’s music vs the TWHS visual prowess is going to be very interesting for BOA.
