Idle_Clasher Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 According to TeamIndiana over on HornRank, Homestead and Fishers are in the top 22, while Brownsburg is in the next 8, despite beating both bands at the ISSMA state finals just about a week ago. packwick Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 congrats to all 6 tx bands!! 4 in the top 22!!! give it your all tomorrow!! it ain't over til it's over!!! brownsburg out of top 22 is a surprise based on reputation at least, haven't seen em since the beginning of the season tho. penalty?? at the same time, b-burg WAS memorable for me when i attended finals last yr, bc they seemed really outclassed musically by the other finalists, excepting Fishers, who was also a lil iffy musically. both strong visually, however, w/ great color guards. strong designs as well. packwick Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 so w/ a lil more wiggle room, finalists prob something like: bridgeland, a. fork, prosper, tarpon, avon, ba, carmel, dobyns, cp, leander, mason, and castle??? can't shake the feeling b-burg has a huge surge upward, but it'll be hard. also, homestead thru prosper cluster will be good for the judges to get a direct comparison. packwick Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 also what's w/ the extra panel of judges??? just now noticing there are too many names. BOA finally doubling their panels for major contests, like every other major marching arts organization?? esp w/ GE being 60%, that shoulda happened a looooong time ago. TWHSPercDad 1 Quote

Expand Actually, I think Brownsburg may be closer to the top 12 than people think. All we know is that they were 12th or lower in their prelims panel. Looking at the two panels, theirs was way more stacked than the other one. Just because they're in the "next 8" doesn't mean that their score wasn't higher than several of the top 11 that came from the other panel. I feel like worst case scenario they placed in the high teens in terms of overall prelims scores. We shall see, after everything is done. Hard Core Band Fan 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Good early morning everyone!! We are here live on Box5 for the Semi-finals of the Bands of American Grand National Championships!! I was out late last night and didn't listen to results till around 1:30, but congratulations to all of our Texas bands for making finals!! No Mustang was a shocker to me, was hoping to see them this weekend, but it was a super competitive prelims. Anyways, time for Argyle!! maxin459 and RouseCasa 2 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Amazing performance from Argyle to get things started this morning!! Lovely Euphonium solo going into that rich opening hit, great sounds from the ensemble though a couple of tone issues in the brass, thought I'd contribute any mistakes to that early call time, my goodness. Love the use of Dance in the second movement, great job Sax duet, super mature sounds. That ballad is just so gorgeous, lovely trombone solo and a super strong closer!! Tons of visual GE throughout with the different photo sets and the use of the big camera, some really good individual marching technique and a great performance all around. Congratulations on your first Semi-finals run Argyle!! utee94 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Wow Deer Creek, I didn't think I'd be getting this emotional this early in the day, but here we are, and what a performance!! Great job brass quintet in the opener, some really mature sounds, especially from the main trumpet, and great entrance by the ensemble. Supper pretty ballad, great work with the brass playing to the endzone, and what a closer, super effective writing that they executed very well. Some very effective drill writing as well, plenty of call backs to the rose set throughout, amazing job Deer Creek and congrats on your first semi-finals performance!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Fun show from Franklin! Soloists were great all around, WW's and brass killing those technical runs in the second movement. Wish the battery wasn't glaring over the soloists in the ballad, they're clean for sure but a little too loud for my taste, though amazing job with the drum break! Some super strong visual moments and a great performance all around, great job Franklin! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Holy Crap Brownsburg!! I do see why many were shocked to see them in next 8 because that feels like a finals show to me!! Love the preshow back field-ish playing, amazing sounds. The amount of bodywork in this show is insane, it adds so much to the story and is super clean. Lovely sounds from the soloists going into the opening hit (can't tell off sound what instrument that is), great sounds from the ensemble. Guard was fantastic as well, some very exposed yet clean work, and gosh that ballad was so so pretty, amazing job with the tempo changes. I feel like if anything is hurting them it's probably GE??, but I don't have any issue following the show so idk. Either way, fantastic performance Brownsburg, would be super cool if they were able to make the jump!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Great stuff from Walled Lake!! Some very challenging music that they are executing super well! Great sounds in those first two movements, sections killing their features. Some minor timing issues in the ballad, but the group still sounded great. GET IT DRUMLINE!! Loved that feature, really helps build into that super strong and pretty ending, amazing job Walled Lake!! utee94 and Sideswiperr 2 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 NORWIN!! Wow; for an 8 AM performance they really brought the sound this morning!! Just great stuff all around. That guard is amazing, their techs were going crazy all performance long, just some really challenging tosses that are up front but they were nearly flawless. Musically super strong, great sounds form the trombones going into that super powerful opening hit. Really beautiful work in the ballad, that Sprano was ringing and just a super strong closer. Visually very clean as well, drill was really solid, amazing job Norwin!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Really great showing from Rosemount!! Cool pre show with the Fur Elise and some nice bodywork. Really big sounds from the whole ensemble, they are playing very well, flag work in the intro was really together, great job. Soloists great all around, lovely sounds from the Trombone choir in the ballad, and a super powerful closer. Drill was very engaging and clean, and some great visuals throughout. Only gripe about this one is their large use of Ode to Joy, wish there was just a little more variety in music, but not something the kids control. Love the guard design in this one a lot as well, amazing job Rosemount!! Quote
