TacosNSalsa Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 How it might go — 1. Tarpon 2. Avon 3. Cedar Park 4. Carmel 5. BA Cedar Park outplays almost all of the bands at GN. There are other issues visually and design wise that will prevent them from probably scoring even this high, but - to be clear - the performers are exceptional. They had a terrific run in semis and could build on that momentum. DB pretty colors. Castle loved the opening hit when Blue Devils did it two years ago, and it works again. Leander what a groovy show. Best trumpet soloist of the year. Dang! Prosper is prospering and American Fork is very American. Bridgeland plays with a full throated sound. Mason’s peek-a-boo is a little bit odd - but, the kids really sell what they’ve been given. Heres to another GN Finals with exceptional performances from all the bands. Proud of the students, teachers, and designers who work so hard! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Just such a professional run from Carmel!! The musical ability of this group is just insane, talent all over the place, and everyone is playing with such incredible sounds. From the soloists to the whole ensemble, everyone is taking responsibility to sound their best on an unreal level. Love the source music, been a while since I heard some of the music in that closer (vandy 18, I think). Visually insane as well, very well could see that 2nd or 3rd, just clean clean clean, amazing job Carmel!! TacosNSalsa 1 Quote

Not saying it isn’t with the others, I just think Tarpon is special even if I don’t love everything about how they play. They have it figured it out this year. Top 4-5 bands are truly magical. Quote
sidi Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 GO CEDAR PARK! TacosNSalsa and Parkwoodmom 2 Quote
GeekBoy54 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Cedar Park just blew the house down!! The Timberwolf band is a Texas powerhouse with no signs of slowing down. The fact they gave a performance so spectacular and that was only good enough for 10th place a week ago at San Antonio...wow. I'd love to see them crack Top 3! Thank you for doing Texas proud Cedar Park! Congratulations on a spectacular season! Parkwoodmom and TacosNSalsa 2 Quote

Tubalord11 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 CEDAR FREAKING PARK, OMG!!!! Literally just had the best performance of the season by far, holy smokes!! That predrill was super clean and then that opening hit just tore down the roof on this place, WOW!! Great job Flute solo nails all season, WW's killing those technical runs, love the knife set, so so effective. Gorgeous ballad, Trombone just flying with those notes, 3/4 section was great WW's, and then its just lush sounds from the full ensemble. Great job brass with the features, and my goodness that ending, love the part with the low brass entering into the full ensemble sound, and the company front to bring it all together. We'll see how Mason responds but could 100% see that in 5th, fantastic job and congratulations on your performance Timberwolf band!!! TacosNSalsa 1 Quote

WanderingTraveler Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Sad I am having to miss the final bands of the year, but I caught like two minutes of Cedar Park and W.O.W. Hope the finalists bands are super proud of these products, y'all are stellar. Quote
FwefewF Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I don't know what William Mason's show designers were on when they wrote this show, but I would like some WanderingTraveler 1 Quote
GeekBoy54 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 William Mason, thank you for making me laugh so hard! It was an honor to witness an authentic real-life episode of Looney Tunes. Campy, cheesy, energetic, performed exceptionally well...this was so much fun from start, middle, end, and outro!! That's all folks! Tubalord11 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 What a fun show from William Mason!! Never thought we'd have a cat and rabbit show in the same season yet here we are. Great job WW's with the opener, a little lose at times, but mostly together, Wow brass, what a massive sound. Again, love the use of sorcerer's apprentice, really fits well into the change of props and visual work going on. Super pretty ballad, soloists were killer, and love the Tell Overture, really cool with the low brass integrating a different rhythm with the high brass playing the main part. Guard is also insane, adding so much effect to the story. A couple small things that I could see put them below CP, it'd probably be close either way, but their GE is off the charts, fantastic job Mason!! Quote

Materminds of simplicity in show design and staging, and letting the music and performance take over to incredible heights. The mellos were on fire and the subtlety of the rest of the ensemble leads to their superiority. What an incredible performance! Definitely the most simplistic marching of all the bands in the finals. TacosNSalsa 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Also small heads up, I will be missing Murry and the live awards, gonna hang with some friends after Tarpon but I'll definitely be watching them when I get home, will be nice to be able to skip ahead, though it could be very late when I get home, but don't worry you'll get my reaction at some point tonight....or in the morning 😂 Quote

thejitfromband Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 As expected cedar park was awesome and their music was phenomenal. Maybe team Texas will take the music caption home once again. We will have to wait and see though. On a side note. UIL please just one season let the texas bands practice more than 8 hours so they can be visually clean so EVERYONE can go that year because they're cleaner and then grand nats just becomes a blood bath will all the power houses attending. I think that would be awesome. TacosNSalsa 1 Quote
