Dave609 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 I'm legit surprised no one created this topic. This season has been real hectic as we get down to the final 2 in each divison for Football. Some things I wanted to note- - China Spring was knocked out of the playoffs by Anna HS. Anna faces off against 2021 4A Divison 1 State Football Champion Stephenville HS this week, and I highly recommend you watch the game! - Dallas South Oak Cliff is looking to add their third straight title this year, and already knocking out favorites such as Melissa HS and Midlothian Heritage HS, this season is shaping to look like they can. This week they face Love Joy HS, this game will be a very good one! - Forney HS is back in the top 8 for the first time since '02. Big congratulations to them! - This year, we could be seeing many repeat champions, or possible champions that could return from the past! Definitely be watching for who comes out on top this weekend! Games to watch- - Stephenville HS VS Anna HS- 4A Divison 1 - Gilmer HS VS Carthage HS- 4A Divison 2 - Dallas South Oak Cliff HS VS Love Joy HS- 5A Divison 2 Best of luck on the rest of the season to all who are still in it! This will be a very cool experience for both teams and one of the teams bands appeared at the State Military Contest back in October! Bellville HS is making their 3rd state appearance, but the last time they played was back in 1977, which is the longest time between appearances for any team playing at state this season! We are seeing 3 rematches- Duncanville VS Galena Park North Shore, Dallas SOC VS PNC in the 5A Divison 2 Game and Albany VS Mart in the 2A D2 Game! This will be the 5th time that we see North Shore and Duncanville face off in the State Championship for football! 4A is the only conference where neither Divison 1 or 2 have a returning team or returning State Champion from 2022 Finally 5 teams are making their first State Appearance, and one of the teams, Anna HS, is coming in defeating the teams that won the State Championship in 2021 and 2022 for Divison 1, that being China Spring HS and Stephenville HS. Best of luck to anyone who may be at one of the games! Quote

This marks their third title, with their last one being in 1999, almost three decades ago! Gordon HS finishes the season 15-0 and end's their season defeating 2 time reigning State Champion Westbrook HS out of Westbrook, TX. Congratulations to both teams on making it to the State Championship, and congratulations once again to Gordon HS on getting their third Football State Title! Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Forgot to mention that six man has a 45-point mercy rule in the second half. Rare mercy rule win for Gordon in the state title game. Also, the Longhorns are a young team, so expect to see them back in the title game next year. Dave609 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 1A D2 - End 1Q: Benjamin 28, Oglesby 20 These officials are ... something. Lot of questionable calls going Benjamin's way at the moment. Quote
Dave609 Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 1A Division 2: FINAL- Benjamin 82 - Oglesby 34 Congratulations to Benjamin HS out of Benjamin, TX for winning their 2nd State Title! ViewFromTheBox Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Second game to end with the 45-point mercy rule for six man. Grayson Rigdon now has three state titles ... as a junior — back-to-back with Benjamin and one with Strawn. And apparently that's par for the course for the Rigdon family. https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/rigdon-family-six-man-football-benjamin-high-school/ Quote
Dave609 Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 The final game of the evening is underway! A new champion is being crowned tonight, Will Tolar HS or Timpson HS come out on top in 2A Divison 1? Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 You can probably say goodnight to this one. Timpson up 14-0 early in the second quarter, and Tolar is struggling to do anything with the football. That and Timpson has Terry Busey, who is basically a cheat code in 2A. Quote
Dave609 Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 2A Divison 1: FINAL: Timpson 49 - Tolar 7 Congratulations to Timpson HS out of Timpson, TX on winning their FIRST UIL State Football Championship in School History! ViewFromTheBox Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 How dominant was Timpson last night? Well, Terry Bussey had a 97-yard touchdown pass to Dacorian Johnson (longest in state championship history in any classification), ran for a 93-yard touchdown (longest in 2A state championship history) and finished with 566 combined passing and rushing yards and six total touchdowns. Talk about putting your name into the UIL state championship history books! (Also, Timpson when 58-3 in the Terry Bussey era. Finally got over that last hurdle to win it all.) Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Got a defensive slugfest here in the first game of the day. Mart leads Albany 3-0 after one quarter in the rematch. Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 2A DI Half time: Albany 21, Mart 3 - Albany really starting to take control of the game towards the end of the first half. Really have a hard time seeing Mart getting back into this one. Quote

ViewFromTheBox Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 3A D1 - End 1Q: Malakoff 7, Franklin 0. Franklin was driving to tie the game, but a fumble in the endzone brings a painful ending to a promising drive. Quote

Best of luck to all the teams competing! Also wanted to mention that there has been a trend with this Championship where a new winner is crowned in Divison 1 and the reigning champion takes the win in Divison 2. it will be broken today though since neither 4A divisions have their reigning champion.
