I’m having trouble seeing Leander in national finals at all with this show to be honest. The GE ceiling is very low and it’s not difficult enough to stand out.

The results would disagree, this is the best Leander has placed at Austin and TMC since 2021.

I know this isn’t the grand nats thread, but I’m having a hard time seeing how Leander DOESN’T make finals at GN. Who are the 12 bands that you place  ahead of them?

Vista Ridge (People seem doubtful on them for some reason but I got faith)

I'm not too sure about anything else, because I have not seen any other shows this year. These are the ones I'm 99% sure will make finals. Definitely more bands will make finals, But these are the only ones I've seen and know to be honest.

I heard they changed everything around, taught the trumpet quartet how to toss rifles while playing their solos one handed, and Peter Gabriel himself is going to pop out of the giant sunglasses prop and sing the In Your Eyes closer live along with the band!  😃😎💙

just teasing, of course. (How fun would that be tho?!) And you are certainly entitled to your opinion! Honestly though, the show isn’t easy by any means and there is GE a plenty!  Will it be enough to get them into finals at either San Antonio or grand nationals? I think it will. But only time will tell!

I've seen Leander's show several times now, it's got plenty enough to make finals at all upcoming competitions. Their kids are also gracious and fun to hang around, our kids are definitely looking forward to the trip up to Grand Nationals alongside them. 

Although I personally think they missed a bet by omitting Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" from the musical book, but hey, that's just picking nits.

Alrighty ladies and gentlemen, now that area is all wrapped up (minus C but I think Waxahachie is the only big dog coming here from there), here's my final predictions for this comp. I'm not really using area results as a helper, at least a lot as we know UIL doesn't have GE, but I just wanted to wait for my personal sake. I was planning on going to this in person, but unfortunately won't be able to anymore, but I plan on watching all of Saturday prelims/finals, maybe Friday, we'll see since I've got rehearsal from 4-6, but I'll probably happen. Only have my top 12, and then the bands fighting for the last two spots, but honestly my top 10 are my only personal locks, but even then, anything could happen, especially with how good everyone is this year. Anyways, here's my guess, lines up somewhat with what the general census seems to be: 

1. Vandy (visual/GE)

2. Hebron (music) 

3. Flowermound 

4. The Woodlands 

5. Vista Ridge

6. Marcus 

7. Cedar Park 

8. Pearland 

9.Rouse 

10. Ronald Reagan

Anything can happen with how odd the season has been but it's gonna be difficult for new faces to break into top 14 this year.

just fixed my list lol, coppell had been moved into last 2, honestly don’t think finals is as guaranteed for them as recently. I also don’t know where to put Marcus considering their season, would say as high as 5th and low as 10th/11th tbh, idk 🤷‍♂️

If you swap 4 and 5, I think you have a pretty likely breakdown of how this thing shakes out. There's a real chance 1 and 2 are swapped. Why? Hebron's music is somehow harder than previous years, but they're executing it better. More than that, the drill is MUCH, MUCH better (and cleaner) than previous years. They're also due for a higher percussion score based on what we've seen so far. GE score might not be as high and nobody will take Vis from FloMo, but they'll run away with music. Will that be enough? No idea. No crystal ball over here.

I also think Coppell will crack the top 10, but that's entirely based on previous years -- oddly enough, I haven't seen their show.

Honestly 1,2,and 3 are all interchangeable. Definitely gonna be one of the closest podium finishes we’ve seen in a while

Don't count out Bowie, Cypress Woods, Westlake, Keller, McNeil, or LD Bell quite yet! I was a bit stunned by the omission of Bowie, Bell, and McNeil from state, though Bowie and Bell both have recent histories of less-than-stellar results at UIL area while achieving finals or near-finals results at late-season BOA. Keller hasn't missed a finals appearance at any contest in the last decade--I have a feeling 8-30 at BOA San Antonio will be surprising!
