Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Good morning everyone! We are here live on Box5 for the San Antonio super regional! I'll be on today for the first two blocks and all day tomorrow! If you buy the prelims/finals, it does include both days of prelims and finals for a much cheaper price! Good luck to everyone competing this weekend! RouseCasa and Josegjr 2 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Cute show from Veterans Memorial to get things started here! Good sound for their size, Sparano soloists was on fire! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Solid showing from Weiss!! Visually very clean, good work on the cover downs on the big curve forms. A couple tunning issues but overall, really good sounds, loved that WW feature during the second movement, super pretty ballad, great job ya'll! Quote

While possible, I doubt that will happen. Expand I would be shocked if any of the next 4 comes from panel 2. In fact, I think who ever wins that fifth spot in panel 2 will finish at the bottom of finals. Panel 1 is just that strong IMHO. The top 4 in panel 2 are strong as well. Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Great showing from Sharyland! Really mature sounds from the Trombone soloist going into the opening hit. Great sounds form the WW's with dance of vengeance. Beautiful euphonium solo in the ballad, yeah, I see why they scored well in percussion at state because that battery feature was really solid. Visually pretty clean, some cool moments in the drill, great work ya'll!! Quote
jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Sharyland bringing a really good performance of their Dance of Vengeance arrangement. Liked that A LOT. Toxic as a ballad was very good too. Fun show! Quote

In your opinion (this is a question for everyone), what do they need to do to move into regular contention for first place? And since I'm a Bridgeland parent, what the heck, I'll ask the same question for Bridgeland - what does it need to do to move into TWHS' current position, consistently contending for 4-6? Expand from experience i feel like houston bands arent given as much love as austin and dallas bands (being an austinite myself). i would say bridgeland is most definitely on the up and up, it just takes time for that reputation to be built. jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Houston bands are great! I just think that the lack of them at the tippy top makes it feel like they're overshadowed. I also think design down there (here? I'm a Houstonian now) tends to peak earlier when the Austin and Dallas groups really put on the afterburners. That said, being not-from-DFW, there's a TOOOOOOOON of DFW bands that are overshadowed in the same way. Byron Nelson blew me away last year, Braswell is AWESOME this year, and McKinney is gonna turn some heads tomorrow morning. So many great bands that you never see in the dome. Wish more of them would come! KingSousa4Life 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 JBA bringing the heat today! Really inspiring message with tons of great musical moments throughout. Soloists were on fire, and my goodness guard, some amazing writing they've done for them which really helps elevate the show. Tons of visual ge, great job with the forms spelling the different words, super strong performance! Josegjr 1 Quote
jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Have to admit that JBA kinda got to me. I suspect having a taken a massive step in my own life just a couple months ago plays a part. Josegjr 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Cool show from O'Connor! Love that ballad a lot, super pretty sounding soloists! Quote

WoodlandsMom4ever Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I 10 has a vehicle fire or something that’s got both ways at a standstill around Luling Bucees. I wonder if that will affect any groups coming in from the east. Quote
Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2024 Wow Lake Travis, SO much improvement from the last time I saw them!!! Beautiful euphonium solo going into the opening impact, great job with the rotating snowflake. I love how they make Battle of the Ice a brighter piece, great WW feature. Such a pretty ballad, that soprano sax plays with such maturity, and a super big closer. Guard brought so much, loved the flag work throughout, amazing job today!! utee94, WanderingTraveler and Josegjr 3 Quote

jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I remember really liking Lake Travis' ballad at Austin, and that absolutely stayed the same today. Probably one of my favorite ballads of the season! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Another great performance by Hendrickson!! The visual work of this show is insane, so much individual and ensemble demand, and they are executing so well. Lovely sounds from the Flute duet going into the opener, great WW and brass feature. Earth song is such a pretty ballad, and that Euphonium soloists has been nailing it all season long! A couple minor discrepancies in the big line forms during the drum break, but other than that super solid showing, great job today Henny! Quote
jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Burnet with that arrangement of When I Was Older? They absolutely understood the assignment. Glad they keep coming back here. Quote
jetliner Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Hendrickson has brought a beast of a show with them. Demand is through the roof and it was really entertaining throughout. That one was a first viewing for me today and man it was good. Tubalord11 and RouseCasa 2 Quote
Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted November 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2024 Yep, that's how you do it Cedar Park!! Such a powerful opener, really great work going between the brass and WW's. Great flute solo, been on point all season long. Such a mature sound from the Trombone, and such a beautiful ballad, just wow. Great brass moments during the Barber symphony going into the closing movement. The presence this band has on the field is truly something special, and visually so clean. The bodywork is this show is so fun, and they are executing at a top level. I do feel like they've got a stronger performance in them, and have no doubt we will see that tomorrow, amazing job CP! Popular Post Origin Posted November 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2024 Cedar Park was pretty fantastic. Much better of a design than last year. Really don’t love the trend of putting jv/wind players on swing flag (especially when the guard is plenty big enough!), 9 times out of 10 it just makes those moments lack clarity visually. clarinote, Miyazuu, FaultLineBlues and 2 others 5 Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Im pretty sure Cedar Park will make finals, but I thought their performance at 5A finals was a bit stronger so I can see them in the bottom half. We will have to see how other bands do. utee94 and Tubalord11 2 Quote
RouseCasa Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I just love Cedar Park’s show this year. And of course they’re consistently executing it at the highest level. Beautiful, balanced, and powerful sound and great visual program. Looking forward to an even stronger run tomorrow night which I’ll get to see in person! utee94 and Tubalord11 2 Quote
