Agreed. If you're going to play a piece that was part of one of the most exciting DCI shows of all time, you had better kill it. You are going to be measured against that performance. Having a huge lull at the end will be noticed. They did many things well, but the ending left us wanting.

SCV 2018, both that show and RR’s show use Metropolis 1927 by Peter Graham for a majority of the music.

Final thoughts from tonight.

1. flomo is very very good

2.  Nobody else today was as good as flomo 

3. I love flomo 

4. Flomo can have my kids 

5. I will move to flomo so my kids can be at flomo 

6. their directors must be magic bcuz the turn around from their bad super hero show in 2022 to this is insane 

7. Flomo for sure is on that podium

8. I’m changing my user name to Flomo fan

9. I quit my job to binge watch the flomo YouTube channel

there are only so many arrangers so we are getting to the point where everything is gonna be repeated just a matter what band does it better

I don’t think it’s a problem due to limited arrangers, or a problem at all for that matter. Good source material is good source material and I love metropolis 1927. Cedar park used to use music that Carolina crown either just used or would use the following summer due to Michael Klesch writing for both groups. 
 

That being said doing something from an iconic championship winning show is going to mean that comparisons will be drawn. I’m glad Leander used Lost it to Trying 9 years before bloo 24.

"Better" for a source material can be a pretty subjective thing. I think two groups can use the same piece of music in different ways and produce great results. For example, I really enjoyed the samples of Orawa Avon used in 2013, but I also enjoyed Leanders usage of it the next year. I don't really compare the two because the arrangements are in a whole different context to produce unique results for each show. That's really the beauty in arranging to me. No doubt Round Rock will incite thoughts of Babylon by playing Metropolis with a Peter Gabriel ballad though. I just caution those who are quick to judge a high school group to a DCI world champion.

Good morning TW!

After being in the dome all day yesterday, that was by FAR the hardest and most entertaining show of the competition! That GUARD oh my gosh!!

Wow The Woodlands, wow wow wow!!! As to no surprise, the guard stole the show away, at least for me. Just an insane amount of double rifle work and extremely high tosses that is nothing short of easy for them. Soloists all around were great, loved the small ensemble going into the opening hit. Super pretty ballad, that Sparano was on fire. Really great low brass feature, for only having 7 this year those tubas are heard, WW feature was super clean, some challenging technical passages they just nailed. I do think they've got a stronger run in them tonight, but that was just fantastic, amazing job TW!

Dawson's formations are cool. You can tell they've been working those dots.

Watching on Box5 this morning and their show looks good on the big screen. This lineup is crazy tough.

Dawson flexing that honor band champion title - fantastic performance!!

To me, Dawson is giving Hebron pre 2015 where once the visual is all the way put together they’re gonna be a POWERHOUSE.

Super impressive performance from Dawson!! Love this visual design of this show so much, lots of vis GE with the different visuals/bodywork. Super cool moment in the ballad with the guard circling around the smaller circle the band has created, really effective design. Musically, yeah, I see why they won Honor band, because these kids can play. Amazing flute soloist throughout, a couple of entrance timing issues in the start of the ballad with the saxes, but their ensemble sound is super mature and very bright, really big brass sound but very controlled. Great job ya'll!

I don't know how Marcus makes such big sound for such a small band! And y'all I swear I don't think those kids ever stop moving.

Good grief, this band throws goosebumps every time I see them perform. The brass again killing it and the overall musical ensemble just smashing it.

That was INSANE Marcus, for an 8 am performance. They are still the Marcus marching concert band and will be till the end of time. The musical maturity and sounds this group continues to produce year after year is something that will always be super magical. They play with so well everything: dynamics, contrasts in dark and light sounds, top notch soloists, an unreal drumline, you name it, they do it. The brass feature at the start of the second movement, unreal. Not to mention that insane guard, the double flag work in the ballad was just so beautiful. Love finally getting to see the whole show, and the props are a really cool effect. Such a stunning performance, fantastic job Marcus!
