quenslays Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Might just be thinking out loud but I think Cedar Park could win this. If they really lock in they could pull off a win against vandy. utee94 and BbMarching 2 Quote

Expand This. I get Tarpon Springs not coming, their GN trips are just as expensive and just as far as any Texas band taking the trip to Indy, but I feel like Avon and Carmel should be coming down to this Super every year San Antonio and their states don't land on the same weekend. Apparently Broken Arrow refuses to come down, but the rest of these big names would do well so I don't see the reason to hold out. I also see Bentonville doing very well here and I hope they consider either next year or the year after if they decide to attend GN next year. lost, BbMarching and tubapop 1 2 Quote
Popular Post tubapop Posted October 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2024 I actually like BOASA being mostly Texas bands who are under the same practice restrictions. It’s a more level playing field. Avon and Carmel get far more practice time. Feels like they’d be muddying up the results. If they’re skrd to come down, I’m fine with them staying up there. utee94, Bdc22 and clarinote 2 1 Quote

Expand I think they meant that Tarpon, like Texas bands, spends a substantial sum on a regular basis to travel to GN in Indy. Avon and Carmel spend virtually nothing, so their total spend over time has been minimal. Hence they should fork over some money from time to time and make the trip down here to compete at BOA-SA. I don't necessarily agree with this take; as I mentioned earlier, I'd prefer BOA-SA be largely restricted to bands competing on a level playing field in terms of allowed practice time. I don't like the idea of a bubble Texas band not making finals at BOA-SA because Avon and Carmel, who get far more practice time than the Texas bubble bands do, take up more space at the top. Perhaps those bubble bands might be as good as Avon and Carmel if they had the same practice time. fsc, WoodlandsMom4ever, Hard Core Band Fan and 3 others 6 Quote
balumni2023 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Looking at the attendance list, these are my predictions of finalists, which will likely change as we get closer. Alphabetically listed: Cedar Park Cedar Ridge Coppell Flower Mound Hebron Leander Marcus Pearland Ronald Reagan Rouse The Woodlands Vandegrift Vista Ridge Waxahachie Like people have said before, this contest has so many talented bands performing, so some are definitely going to get left out. That does not make them any less talented. As fans of these competitions, it’s great to be excited by predictions and scores and we can agree there are bands that generally stand out above the rest, but it’s important to remember that all of these bands deserve our praise and applause. Expand Fairly solid list imo, it feels right for the current field. I'd maybe swap Waxahachie with Round Rock but it'll come down to their prelims run. Honestly BOASA '24 is starting to feel similar in difficulty to BOASA '17. There's a lot of good bands and it's going to be a tough fight to make it into finals. Insane that there's only about 3-4 weeks left in the TX marching season. With the ever growing field of competitiveness in TX I shall restart my campaign for making SA Super Regional into Grand Nats South ✊😌 utee94 and Tubalord11 2 Quote
