This is what Im thinking so far, the Southlake-Rock Hill area feels pretty interchangeable depending on how the judges want to decide performance and visual GE, but I think North could end up on top of these groups if their GE scores go up, I also missed Wylie East and Lone Star, so I suppose this list is a tad preferential over objective opinion, but I think finals will look something like the top 12 and however Wylie performs later

North Mesquite HS- submerged: 

Lovely showing from NM! Big fan of Niagara Falls and they played it so well!! Amazing soloists throughout, flute and Clarinet did so well in the ballad!! Pretty solid visually, some cleaning, but I think with enough of it, they could come out on top at Area C, would definitely be surprised if they don’t make state. Great job Big Blue!!

I was thoroughly surprised and impressed with North Mesquite, I was definitely low balling them going into today but they played fantastic, definitely going to be strong in area C

Percussion and front ensemble from North Mesquite caught my attention early on and did not disappoint. Really liked the play between the brass sections. 

Solid show with very nice execution!

Great stuff for Lake Ridge!!! Really good sound from the trumpets in the pre show! Brass is showing out, especially those Mellos! Some hard licks they are nailing! Lovely Bassoon soloist in the ballad, love the muscle suit on the one member presenting himself to the Gods in the back on their thrones! Lots of box forms, and they did pretty good on their cover downs with minimal misses. Plenty of GE, definitely underestimated them, my apologies 😂 should do very well at Area this year, amazing job Lake Ridge!

Appreciate the shoutout! Lake Ridge has definitely been putting in the work, and it's awesome to see it noticed. This group is truly underrated—these kids are hungry and ready to surprise some folks this season! Their dedication is off the charts, and they’re just getting started. Watch out at Area, because they’re gearing up to bring their best and leave it all on the field. Cool show from out final out of state band!!! Good presence for their size, though I feel they could pup out a little more. Great soloists, guard had some solid moments, super cool tenor solo. Great job Coweta!

Very well, in regards to BOA for MISD id say yall are probably the best, I love how strong yalls low brass has gotten

Waller:

Good opening hit! Woodwind technique strong. Good passing between the brass sections. Some sets still need a bit of polishing. I liked the softer pit section, followed by a softer woodwind undertone. Nice job horn! Followed by euphonium, good flow to the both of them! Good job Waller band!

Great stuff from Waller! Brass had a very good presence and they are playing some hard licks pretty clean! Visually, they’ve got some ways to go, but still some solid moments. Good soloists, and a great show all around, good job Waller!!

it's crazy i marched there 2013-2017 and we didn't have a great trombone section and seeing this section having their own feature is just mind boggling to me

Walnut Grove:

Building backfield. Turn around to the front hit, not overpowering, control is evident. Nice trumpet brassy eco. Strong brass moments are very present in the show. Woodwinds have their moments and sound controlled. Nice job flutes! Good brass build through the balled hit. Most of the marching is clean. Interesting saxophone technique nice eco effect! Technique is clear across the ensemble and nice mello rip! Good ending effect nice job!

Walnut Grove HS- The Winding Road:

WOW WANUT GROVE!!! I see why they did so well at MMI, because they were amazing! Really strong first impact, great sounds for their size!! Lovely soloist, those flirts were just wonderful in the ballad! Clean drill, and plenty of GE in it as well! They’ve already come leaps and bounds from last season, and will soon be a threat to reckon with, amazing job Walnut Grove!!!

Walnut Grove is a 5A high-school that will make them 3A here.

Im not certain if they did, but I got heavy Civ vibes at times, Im waiting for a band to do a Civ show haha
