 Bentonville HS- Black Sheep:

B-VILLE JUST SHOWED OUT!!!!! Amazing start with the tubas into the brass feature into the full band hit!!! Such a big yet controlled sound, wow!!! They sound unreal, that percussion feature was 🔥🔥🔥Tough mic issues in the ballad that they mostly fixed, huge and beautiful ensemble sound in the hit. Super fun jam feature, great work bones, amazing closer!! Idk bout yall, but I think they might be closer to 1st then we expect, that’s all, not trying to indicate placements or anything. WOW Bentonville, just simply blown away, see you tonight!!!

Lake Ridge HS-Olympia:

Great stuff for Lake Ridge!!! Really good sound from the trumpets in the pre show! Brass is showing out, especially those Mellos! Some hard licks they are nailing! Lovely Bassoon soloist in the ballad, love the muscle suit on the one member presenting himself to the Gods in the back on their thrones! Lots of box forms, and they did pretty good on their cover downs with minimal misses. Plenty of GE, definitely underestimated them, my apologies 😂 should do very well at Area this year, amazing job Lake Ridge!!

Lake Ridge: I live Greek mythology, but they do need a bit more cleaning. I like it when shows tie a story into their performance. But I really didn't understand here they were trying to go with it. But a solid trumpet section! Overall great job!

L.D Bell

Nice backfield brass build. Strong low brass. Nice mello moment. I like that how for blue shades they loved to the blue tarp nice little Easter egg. As the day goes on bands will have to start being more mindful of tuning. The band moves to the color tarp depending on the title of the song. Nice horn and baritone duet. Nice trombone! A bit of phasing. Overall very nicely done! There's still work to be done.

Pretty common for parents to leave after their band, especially if they’ve got other stuff to do like eat or not be in this heat 😂

LD Bell HS- Color Theory:

Great performance from Bell!! Great stuff from the WW quarter into the opener! Love the different shades of music throughout the 2nd movement, lovely work from the different soloist. Ballad was super beautiful, and that ending was just spectacular, T-bones are on fire!! Visually much cleaner than last weekend, though still some work to do. Hope they can clean those tarps bc the dirt on them is pretty obvious. Great run from Bell, love how the show is coming together!!

Watching Whitesboro, its crazy just how evolved bands become even like 5 years, in 2019 DTing was only for the big dogs, now its becoming a standard to have many of these bands double tongue at some capacity, very impressed with how much everythings progressed over the years

Whitesboro HS-where the dust settles:

great stuff from the 2023 UIL 3A gold medalist!!! That flute soloist was amazing all show, some really difficult passages those WW’s were nailing, and the brass was present! Great flute quartet in the ballad, and they’ve got a good sound for their size!! Should be another very successful year for them at state, possibly back to back! Amazing job Whitesboro!!

Always have liked lake ridge shows, glad your opinion of them has changed. HOLY BENTONVILLE VISUAL TOP TIER!!!!

Rock Hill:

I love their musical selection! Nicely done flutes! Nice brass eco! A few sabor drops. The show has a nice flow to it. Let's go brass!! Overall very nicely done! A bit of improvement from last weekend.

Rock Hill HS-Message in a bottle:

you can tell they feel at home bc that run is as lights out!! Great sounds from the low brass into the opening hit! Lovely flute duet, wow they’ve really cleaned up!! Tons of visual ge in the second movement. Excellent soloist in the ballad, loved how the flutes are now in the bottle, great GE. Love the new stuff, those woodwinds are going crazy on these runs, super effective ending with the guard member running through the wave the band has created!! Amazing performance rock hill, I expect them to continue their Boa finals streak!

McKinney North:

Yet another jazz themed show! Oh yeah! I'm digging it, nice tap dancing. And dancing overall from the brass quintet! I love their vocalist! Wow. BRASS yeahhh! I love how fun the show is. But there is still cleaning to be done. But the energy is amazing!

McKinney North- Open Mic:

North once again laying it down with their jazz shows, and boy were those mics on!! Soloists were definitely the stars of the show, feels at times they are relied on to much, but I see why they have them up there so much, bc WOW they are on fire!! Great sounds from the ensemble, tons of individual requirements visually they are nailing, great marching technique! GE is ofc off the charts, and while I don’t know how to judge that type of show, they may have earned a second performance, at least I think. They will be super strong come area, amazing job MN!!
