So you get to bring back one corps...

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but Star is gone forever. Their time has past. There are reasons as to why Star has and will not ever come back. To begin with, the staff of Star has dispersed into various corps (most notably Carolina Crown), Blast, Blast II, etc. Things will be different if the organization decides to bring in a whole new set of people.

Second...if you look at their scores they only had a successful run of about four years (top 3 from '90 to '94, 6th and above the other five years). If you take a look at the other top corps (Cavaliers and Blue Devils), they have been way more successful than Star during that period of time from '85 to '93.

Finally...people should not bask in the glow of what was '93. It was one show (the show was great, dont get me wrong), but what makes a corps great is a series of shows. People have forgotten how great the Cavalier's are right now. Since the turn of the century, they have won 5 of 7 championships (going from 2000 to 2006). The other two years they received second place. They set the first 99.15- higest score ever to date. In those years, the havent fell below the score of 97.2-- there is no other corps in history to have done that. Zero, Zip, Nada!!! In that span of time they have averaged a score of 97.989. No other corps has averaged a score that high. I dont know what you can call greatness, but the Cavaliers sure seem to be the definition of it. Not the Star of Indiana.

Where is the 99.15 of Star's. Where is the 7 championships that the Cavaliers have, the 9 that the Cadets have, and the whopping 11 of the Blue Devils (whom has never placed outside of 4th place since '75....in '91 they received 5th). And lets not forget that in '93 that Star didnt win...the Cadets did. If the show is going to be called the greatest show ever, than shouldn't it have won? Shouldnt have received the 99.15? Star in their 9 year tenure in the top 12 has only won 1 title.

Listen to this man

Let's not forget this is a WHAT IF type of thing, not "who is the greatest corps that doesn't exist anymore" type of thing or the possibility of them ever coming back. Just thought I should bring this thread back to what it's intended to ask. biggrin.gif

I don't know what inspired this rant as no one prior to your post described them as the best corps of all time.

Considering Star's first year in competition was '85, I'd consider everything they accomplished rather amazing. You yourself listed off dominant corps of the era, which were infact topped by Star in their mere 7th year of fielding a corps. You're comparing the achievements of a corps who only lasted 9 years to corps who've been in the business FAR longer. Cavaliers needed 20 competing years before taking the title, Cadets in their 6th year of competition. Mind you these corps were established as far back as the 30's. I really don't know why you are attempting to take away from what Star did in a thread about which corps it would be cool to see again :P
