There aren't usually football games on Saturdays but since that stadium hosts home games for several RRISD schools, it occasionally happens and would need to be accounted for. I'd expect a lot of overlap if they were spaced out a bit more, but as it is I don't see many of the Austin bands repeating a week later, not do I see them skipping Austin to go to San Marcos instead. I know that McNeil normally hosts this contest, and I am assuming that they still are, but it is also great to see them actually competing here this fall. We are at 14 bands now, let’s get 10 more! I am not sure what the low numbers are about other than the addition of the San Marcos contest and the fact that this one is so early in the season. BOA Austin has always been a top heavy contest with maybe 1 or 2 finalist spots up for grabs. And the contest is completely loaded with top level talent so I don't think it'll be any less special. I think it's great that there is a new nearby option and more programs might get a chance at making it through to Finals. And as a pit pack parent that helps schlep the equipment all day, I'm not at all disappointed in the idea of avoiding the midday heat. JMO of course. lost Posted August 11 Share Posted August 11 Are they advancing all bands to finals or just cutting three off for the finals advancement? Granted if they do cut three groups that only leaves two groups not performing a second time, since Gatesville is the only A band attending at minimum they get a guaranteed exhibition performance.
