I am going to guess 86.2 (yep, it's high for this time of year but have you watched what they are cookin' this year?)

Cedar ridge literally got 3rd in 4a and 5th overall last year and one off at San Antonio. They just struggled in uil.

Yes, but the reason they missed finals in SA was due to their visual score.

Their guard is just insanely visually strong. Could not take my eyes off them.

Keep in mind show design starts long before these types of changes. And their guard just keeps elevating. But yeah. For me they look a step up from past years.

But (!) wouldn't it be even more accurate to say, don't underestimate what a great dance team without any guard can do for your visual program, based on these prelims results? 🙃

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I shouldn't try to plant the idea that Round Rock's band director had in other directors' minds. The guards in Texas will vanish. 😂

And for the record, before people jump on me, I much prefer guards. Much higher risk from upstairs, and more interesting in the Z-axis, so to speak.

No GE was by far the bigger issue overall, especially when accounted for the fact it takes up 60% of the score

And that's my issue with BOA scoring. Separate or combine but don't separate them combine the scores for 60% of the score

Sometimes I have to wonder what BOA does wrong vs TMC when it comes to making the sound system at Kelly Reeves work lmao

 

At TMC they play whole videos and all of the announcements are super clear, but at BOA it's always inaudible.

I think I like Round Rocks uniforms but it's hard to tell with how out of focus the camera is.

hot take, but i think that TMC does it sooo much better than BOA. It is run a lot smoother and I think the scoring system is better in my opinion.

Round Rock- 

First off, I want to say that opening Saxaphone solo was SOOOO GOOD! The musical features are really good and being played very well this early in the season! The uniforms look really interesting as well! Overall I really loved the performance! Congratulations on making finals Round Rock!!

Amazing performance from Round Rock!! Once they add more and clean up, I think this show will be so much fun to watch! That sax solo in the opening is so cool, love the brass only ballad with some very effective flag work done in the woodwinds, just a really good, designed show. Congrats on an amazing start to your season Dragon Band!

Alright, the music for their show is so much fun to listen to! Definitely a change of pace from last year's show. The slow movement is very unique imo. Overall, I really like this style of show and can't wait to see how this season goes for them! Congratulations Westwood on making finals!

Lovely performance from Westwood! Love hearing them play a ton of famous classical pieces, and they do so very well. Lovely body work from the members with that beautiful flute solo leading into the big hit, and that ballad is so nice. Again, the design team did a great job with the transitions into the different songs throughout the show. Can't wait to see the full production, amazing job Warrior band!
