Last Predictions:

1. Pearland (They appeal to all audiences and judges)

2. Dawson (UIL will eat this up)

3. Dickinson (Just behind Dawson because they play a little less well but look better)

4. Stephen F. Austin (Very effective show but not as refined as it is effective)

5. Clear Brook (Similar story to SFA but less visually effective)

6. Foster (Super hard show, they are going to be a victim of draw time most likely)

7. Shadow Creek (Beautiful show, Huge sound, clean drill, some of the show feels pedestrian)

8. Pasadena Memorial (While their music scores will be lower than this, they look VERY clean and move well)

9. Clear Lake (They sound very good, visual accuracy is inconsistent)

10. Churchill Fulshear (Great production value, execution is not as solid)

11. Clear Falls (Good show, too many moments that hit or miss for me to put them in right now)

I mean Dickinson beat Dawson last year so itโ€™s very possible that they beat them again plus there is always time to clean up music and visuals. Personally I would rewatch all the bands to find out the new predictions other than that pearland is most likely going to get 1st again

The rain looks baddddddd for Saturday, be prepared for a prelims-only contest.

Yeah I just looked it up- it doesnโ€™t say for me that itโ€™ll rain that day ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ (or maybe Iโ€™m just way too optimistic ๐Ÿ˜ญ)

Gonna be interesting if the rain is bad enough where they have to go with the backup date.

When's the last time that has had to be done for area?

Expand

Wait; why would they use a backup date and not just prelims only? /srsq

Is there some prelims bands who will get tied up in the rain?

That's what I can't be sure on. Really depends when the rain would start and how bad it is. They don't really clarify what makes them choose between prelims only or backup date.

I hope they don't change the date because it would throw off many schools schedules lmao

I'm a Clements kid, so I haven't seen your show in person yet; however, my cousin marches in your band so I have gotten a few recordings of the show!
I LOVE the Bloombox idea (such a cutesey idea) and yalls soloists are amazing

I'm a guard kid, so I'll just talk about them (Sorry I can't offer band opinions, but it sounds nice :D)

I like how they add a pop of color to the monochrome band outfits

I especially love the swing flag section & the flower contraption thingy

All in all, an amazing show. I loved watching the videos, and I can't wait to see you at Area!
(Also kudos to your band moms for the creative mums at yalls hoco! Loved the bloombox mums :D)

Were you able to see or watch the Ridge Point show on Friday? Any thoughts, I haven't been able to find any videos.

If so, I personally find it an absolute JOY to watch. I saw yall at one of the contests my band attended, and I have to say that the sound is amazing (I'm guard, so take my musical opinion with a grain of salt or two). Love the theme btw (so cuteeee) and me and my friend watch it A LOT

I think the biggest rain threat will be over before Saturday.  The NWS only has a slight chance of precipitation on Saturday with light accumulation.  A bigger concern for me are the predicted southeast winds at 15-25 MPH.

Thank goodness because I was a little scared there ๐Ÿ˜…

I mean at least it's not challenger stadium. So the wind shouldn't cause as big of a problem.

Has anyone seen Dickinsonโ€™s show? is it good this year

Expand

Dickinson has a very cool show titled โ€œConfectioneryโ€.  Itโ€™s very colorful and entertaining, and with a very large band to back it up.  IMHO - They pose the biggest challenge to Pearland for the top spot, provided that they donโ€™t get overconfident in finals, like they did in 2021 when they dropped from second after prelims to sixth overall.

Posted

Iโ€™m not liking the weather forecast trends.  The probability of precipitation has increased to just over 50% on Saturday.  The predicted amounts are still not high, but more likely than not it will rain on someoneโ€™s performance. ๐Ÿ˜ž Itโ€™s too early to have a better feel for timing.

The forecast for SE winds at 15-25 MPH hasnโ€™t changed.

Should conditions warrant, the contest will be paused until officials determine it is safe to resume. If the contest is paused bands will be notified of any adjustments to the schedule. Be advised that if delays are significant enough to prevent the preliminary round and final round from being completed by about midnight, by rule the preliminary round may be declared the final round. Unless conditions are determined by contest officials to be unsafe the contest will continue as scheduled, which includes the possibility of performing in light to moderate rain.
