From what I've heard they'd already had their full show on the field for a month at katy marching festival maybe they've just gotten to a point where they can't improve much more compared to the people around them who are just now starting to get used to their full shows with lots of room to improve

True, but I wasn’t expecting Mayde Creek to place ahead of them, then again, Mayde Creek has made some INCREDIBLE improvements.

As one of my friends who teaches in DFW said to me one time, "Having the show on the field, versus having it complete, produced, and fleshed out are very different things."  

I watched their Katy Marching performance again to make sure I wasnt crazy. Seems like they they made even more changes to the show with the choreo and staging compared to what they did at Katy Marching - makes me wonder if they took a hit this weekend and were a little dirtier, to have more time with no changes and just cleaning through the show to get ready for Area. 

This was the biggest 'shock' to me in the recaps and I was really curious about it - trolling through social media it seems like they had their homecoming game/dance this weekend too. I wonder if that played into the kids having a less than stellar run? Who knows 🤷‍♂️ 

Right now the biggest thing I'm ready to watch and see is what "The Number" is going to be for groups who qualify for Area this year. Some one please correct me if I'm wrong, but there are 32 groups who can qualify for area between the regions? Usually a few in that grouping from outside Katy and Cy Fair, don't get 1's at region. So that means there will be depending on the number of Area groups, either 4 or 5 state spots. 

I REALLY hope that there will be at least 25 that make it so Area I can send 5 groups to state this year!

I agree with this, I think 10th will be a fight between Katy/Langham Creek, cypress park could possibly do something here though..👀(pun intended)

I know this will be a EXTREMELY hot take but hear me out. I know cincos show is great this year and they can PLAY but visually and technique wise they aren't as strong as others, Jet is strong all around but I feel some other bands will make a huge push in improvement and over take them now I'm assuming the biggest thing yall see is katy beating 7L now I personally haven't seen their improvement from katy marching festival but I belive they might stumble behind like last year at area and give other bands like katy or Taylor the opportunity to over take them. Now I know alot of you guys feel like katy will probably get 10 or around there but tbh they have made MASSIVE strides in visual and musical scores compared to katy marching fest so I think we might have a simular situation that happened in 2022 area at berry.

2. Cy woods (odd show but really clean and technical at least from what I've heard and seen, state finals potential imo)

3. Cy fair (not the hardedt show from what I've heard but hey its Cy fair so they'll do their best to make it great)

4. Jordan (like everybody is saying, massive improvements from previous years)

5. Cinco ranch (I know a lot of people don't have this show making state but I really liked it at katy and think it has the potential)

6. 7 lakes (haven't seen it but I've heard great things from other people)

7. Tompkins (also haven't seen it this is purely off rep)

8. Jet (also purely off rep)

9. Katy/LC/Cy ranch (depends on day)

10. Paetow/katy/LC/Cy ranch (depends on day)

I think that this weekend at region, will give us some possible insight and let us finally compare the bands here in area I, but truth be told, it’s all about who can get the cleanest in these next two weeks. But the week of area we will see who does get the cleanest.

1. Bridgeland(obviously, though just BIT concerned about cleanliness, they’ll be fine though, they always are)

2. Cy-Woods(imo, the show has great visual continuity, and use of electronics)

3. Cy-Fair(show not as heavy hitting as last year, but I think will be able to take this third spot and go to state)

4. Jordan(massive improvement, will be able to head to state and I can’t WAIT for that announcement, the stadium is going to light up)

5. 7L(very definite improvement, although I think they have been getting consistently weaker than past years, cinco ranch could make a statement here)

6. Cinco Ranch(not seen them a lot, but amazing show, only thing holding them down is their visual dirt, at the berry it can be very apparent, important they clean that up, but can make state)

7.JET(pretty strong, but I don’t think is as strong as the other groups above them) 

8. Tompkins(not as big as last year, personally not a fan of the design, but seems pretty cool, I just don’t think it’s a “3rd” place design/execution for them again, still a strong contender 100%)
 

9. Cy-Ranch(not seen them a whole bunch but I think can do fairly well here in finals, show looks pretty cool)

10. Langham Creek(massive improvement from this program, really good stuff and a lot better this go-around at this time, than it was last year, dig the new uniforms, hope to see them march in finals)

Hard to argue with your Top 6/7. I do think Katy is being overlooked a little considering that they were less than a point behind JET at Berry and finished well ahead of LC and Ranch, with no ordinals below 4th. This Katy show is improving drastically week to week and still on an upward trajectory. It's all good though, we're splitting hairs and all of these bands are great. It's gonna come down to who executes in crunch time.
