having to move an entire marching contest is a logistical nightmare to begin with, it is inconsiderate and unreasonable to "just move" finals because of all the stuff that needs to be sorted out with the schools attending finals as well as the stadium people...

This is the right answer. I can tell you that there was no talk among Bridgeland boosters about what to do if the event needed to be moved to Monday. We would probably not have had enough volunteers to run the event. Maybe there was something cooking behind the scenes I don't know about. But I think moving to the backup day is a last resort.

It's kinda cool to see langham go from last place at boa at the start of the season to making area "finals" for the first time since 2018 and beating all the bubble schools at the end of it

Where are you seeing the breakdown by brass/woodwinds? The published one only has music vs. visual. Do you have a link?

It was posted on the band app by our director

I think the bad judge rule might apply. For example for Bridgeland vs. Cy Woods, if the same scores given in prelims had been given in finals, then the fact that Bridgeland got two 1's in music and a 1 in visual means the lower scores would have been tossed and would have beat Cy Woods. But I don't know how that applies to lower scores, and I don't know if the rule still applies today. All I know about it is rumors from years past.

Unfortunate news for Cypress Woods. They still had a fantastic run and should still be very proud of their accomplishments. I definitely see them in the running for State Finals. Regardless of the outcome, the correct bands are advancing to state and that's all that matters. Congrats to Bridgleand HS on being the new area champions!!!

isn't it the same judge who put jordan 17 in music? i thought that was nuts as well.

Oh for sure, that was what tripped me up as well, while I do think a Bridgeland 4th for music is a bit low for Bridgeland, I think a โ€œ17thโ€ for Jordan is much more โ€œshockingโ€, I mean congratulations to Bridgeland for winning the area, itโ€™s just I wish these recaps could have been more consistent if were gonna get a prelims only round.
