UIL 6A Area B 2024

No finals is a real possibility. My fear is that not all bands are able to even perform for prelims. I went down a rabbit hole looking for any official guidance if this were to happen (lots of crazy theories being tossed around among well-meaning parents who have minimal ACTUAL information) and stumbled on this official release from UIL in Oct 2020 regarding this very same potential scenario.

Yes, and then ended up bottom half at Waco. Bell and Keller have both peaked end of season last couple of years, so who knows what will happen! Being two days out and basically all 1-5 being a toss-up is wild when there are 4 spots to state. Keller, Bell, TC, and SLC all have potential to win, but I could also see any one of those groups on the outside looking in on advancement. Coppell is likely to win, though I'm not entirely convinced they have 1st completely locked down. The certainly won't miss out on advancing, though.

...And if it is prelims only, let's not forget that Keller Central was rewarded with exceptional placement in prelims 2022. Area never ceases to surprise!

rain forecasts keep fluctuating. last i saw, they were predicting rain showers in the morning, with a transition to thunderstorms mid afternoon (2pm-ish)… ugh

I really hope UIL reschedules at this point. Saturday is looking to be storming all day. It’d be a shame if there was some funkiness due to weather.

1. Coppell

2. Keller

3. Timber Creek

4. SLC

5. LD Bell

6. Haltom

7. Keller Central

8. Lake Ridge

Really hope the rain miraculously goes away🙏🙏, even if as of rn it doesn’t look that way at all

martin is placing 8th, they beat lake ridge by a good bit at duncanville, and they use the same system as UIL

They actually used the state way of judging rather than UIL Area. Not sure why they swapped probably cause Hebron was there or something, so scores could swap between the two.

UIL WILL be happening this Saturday. Yes, it's stormy, but Monday is looking like it'll be more stormy than Saturday. Right now, based on what I've heard, the plan is for bands to go nonstop (as nonstop as weather allows) to get all performances in. Once all performances are completed, if it looks like finals performances will run past midnight, state advancement will depend on prelim scores.

This information has been communicated to me by my band directors.

Does anyone think southlake Carroll has a dark horse chance at that 2nd place spot. Their visual is proving to be very good this year. As long as they have a good musical run I think the possibility to slide above Keller/TC is there. Thoughts?

Yeah, I think 2nd-4th are pretty interchange, really is gonna come down to the day of, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished 2nd or 3rd tbh

Will not reschedule to Tuesday because Pennington Field is already booked that day.  It's Saturday or Monday.

I think there will be prelims and finals, forecast looks to be clearing pretty well. Heard through the grapevine they might push up the start time of finals in order to finish before the storms roll in later. But, it does look like it’s shaping up to be good enough for prelims and finals

I hope both happen, it would be devastating for some groups if only one run is what it comes down to…Its been a while since I have seen an Area only do prelims.

UNT pulled out of exhibition because of the weather, such a bummer cause i wanted to see some of the bands in this area, but I guess we cant win them all. i hope everyone stays safe and all, I know the roads will be somewhat whack tomorrow.
