The rain as of right now seems like it’s happening. Forecast may change but if it doesn’t and the make up day also gets rained out… what happens then?

i would assume they either try for tuesday (which also is looking stormy), or maybe if monday gets rained out, they search for alternate locations, maybe even an indoor practice facility if they must?

also… say like 16-17 of the bands get to perform in prelims, meaning there’s a handful that get rained out… they wouldn’t leave those bands out would they? i would assume that they would wait until everybody has had a chance to perform before they announce state qualifiers etc.

About the rain, they may end up delaying the start of prelims, which would mean the performance times would get pushed back a few hours. I remembered last year at 5A Area F, prelims didn't start til like noon or something and was supposed to start at like 8 or 9. Prelims awards ended up being at like 7 or 8, which meant some bands in prelims performed with pitch black skies, and then finals went all the way until midnight.

Area contests have to be completed by midnight, so if that doesn't work they may end up making the contest prelims only, which would mean bands would be certified based on prelims results. But this is interesting as I don't think this has ever happened before, when the original date and the alternate date are rained out.

I think this is a really good list. Coppell will most definitely win this competition, and I have timber and 2nd and Keller at 3rd due to Keller blooming late in the season (although them beating Waxahachie + Carroll at DMI yesterday was definitely good for them), but they could easily switch to a 2nd Keller and 3rd Timber result at area finals. Although I believe that Southlake will place 4th and take the last qualifying spot (due to their more successful season this year), don’t be surprised if you see Bell taking that 4th place spot. Their season hasn’t been what it was last year, but they are an incredible program who definitely deserves to be in this state conversation for this area.

So here’s my top 4:

1. Coppell

2. Timber Creek*/Keller

3. Keller*/Timber Creek

4. Southlake Carroll

First Out: LD Bell

(* means preferred school for that placement)

I tend to prefer Caroll over Bell. Caroll beats Bell in like every visual aspect, so if they just have a good musical run I'm sure they be fourth.

This has happened and they will certify bands according to prelims results if needed so everyone do not wait until finals fornthe best run because qualifying for state may depend entriely on the prelims run

While I greatly respect all of the other bands who will be looking to compete for a state qualifying spot this Saturday (or a later date who knows with the weather), I just cannot see a world where the top five isn’t (in no specific order) coppell, bell, Keller, timber creek, and Carroll. Keller central and Haltom have outstanding shows this year, however they just aren’t at the caliber of the programs up above. Rain or shine (literally), I think those five bands I’ve previously mentioned will take the top 5, and tragically one of those will not be competing at state.

imo bell has a harder show than carroll so carroll has the edge pretty much unless bell has the best cleanest run they've had all season

anybody have any idea what might happen if saturday and monday both get rained out? i know the UIL has to get involved, but what are the next steps from there?

i know they have to have the contest eventually, as this weather will affect area competitions all around texas, and not sending bands to state because of bad weather is simply just not an option, and i don’t think they would do that anyways.

Luckily, looking at weather forecasts shows that rain doesn't have a high chance until about 3 pm. I believe there are only 3 or 4 bands in the 3pm block? So if those can get finished before it starts raining I would assume finals would just be pushed back, or there would be no finals.

Predictions for finals at the UIL 6A Area B 2024 Marching Contest:

1. Southlake Carroll

2. Keller Central

3. Trinity

4. Waxahachie

5. Haltom

6. Coppell (They'll have a massive tear)

7. L.D. Bell

8. Hebron

9. Southlake Carroll

10. Avon (I really enjoy their show but they're just not having a successful season)

First Out: Ardrey Kell

Keller will not make finals due to a timing penalty

Timber Creek's bus broke down on the way back from St. Louis

Uil HAS to be done by 12am, so if there is rain or the field isn't able to be used by around 8pm ish, there would be no finals unfortunately
