Those 3-5 AM call times are gonna suck, plus they will end up having to stay at the competition from like 10 AM until at least 8:45 PM, but realistically more like 10 or 11, assuming they make finals. But I do feel like runs earlier in the day do end up being cleaner, since the bands aren't tired yet, but after those long days it must suck to do a run late at night too. Expand For birdville we had a game the night before and our call time was 5:00 am. We performed at like 8 am or something wild like that. Very long day only for us to end up second to last 😬 Quote
ilovebandRAHHH Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 way later performances times than i expected in this area! last year some of the earliest performance times in area b would be around 8 or 9 in the morning Quote

And the reason I put Rockwall as 5/6 is because of there rating that they had at past comps compared to other highschools in the area. Quote

Sachse, Rockwall and D-ville honestly all have an equal shot at state imo, and will really come down to their finals performance as to who advances. I think Waxahachie pretty much has 1st in the bag, but Forney will definitely give them a run for their money, it's just hard to know where to place them since they haven't competed in a good while. I'm also not count out JJ Pearce to make state, and tomorrow will really give us a good idea as to where they stand in the 3rd-6th range Maxophone, J Jiggle, Taako2027 and 2 others 5 Quote

Also from what I've seen, the score North Forney got at US Bands Dallas isn't really indictive of their placement in Area, personally I would have expected (based of their run) that Richardson would have placed above them. Also one of those judges seemed all over the place in finals. Also, Garland is most definitely placing above mesquite from what I've seen in both bands. A few years ago they would get in the 20/30s when the LISD trio was in area c. Royce City- I saw this show live and wow the percussion is amazing I like how they start the show with the ripples and especially there closer is amazing I could really feel the energy that they are giving and will def look out for them in finals next year. Garland- I also saw this live and I really enjoyed there opener were they have a woodwind and a brass split and especially the hit I feel like garland is really underrated and will be a threat to area c in a few years. Mesquite- I really have no words to described how much they have improved I really enjoyed there opener which is the same opener from Hebron 2021. Solid percussion, really loved there woodwind feature and brass feature. From getting last place in area 2 years ago I really think they will make it to the top 10 in the next couple of years. North forney- Amazing show reminds me of cedar park 2021 very well played with the brass and woodwinds love the brass feature and also the quintet at the end. I love the energy they give during the ballad and for sure making finals this year and will sure make state in the future Quote
