It's due to it being a school night. Getting students off the field can take quite a long time after retreat.

I understand that, but that is the most fun thing about the whole area competition. Just getting to talk to and play around with other band kids from different schools is so fun and where you create the most memories. I would completely sacrifices my sleep to be able to do that retreat.

they’re probably much better now, they’ve dropped a comp to get better, and it showed during parent performance. whenever they’re at area, they’ll show it. i know the directors are handling any parts that seem unbalanced or dirty.

Really hope to see them shine at area!

also if rockhill was still in this area, they wouldve made state!!!!!!

I mean maybe but we don’t know for sure. Rockwall did beat rock hill at prosper. I’m not saying that means Rockwall would beat them but anything can happen.

I’ve just heard of this and I don’t know for sure, but are they seriously taking away the full band retreat at the end? Like I’m sorry but you’re making us do this competition on a Tuesday and then also taking that away? Literally the 2nd best thing about making finals? The most impactful experience of the competitions? I just don’t get why they want to take that away from us. Me personally it is almost the best thing about the Area Marching Contest.

where are you hearing this

I've never seen a full retreat at Area. I guess it happens some places, just saying it's far from ubiquitous.

Yeah Rockwall has made area finals every year and those full band retreats are the thing I remember most about the entire season. Not the results… but the people you get to meet.

Just tossing this out there, Forney might not be a lock for state👀 Seen a couple of clips from them and they’re honestly pretty dirty. They were some old-ish clips though so it could’ve changed🤷‍♂️ As of for sachse, i’m itching to see what they have been up to. haven’t heard much from them since waco.

if they were old clips then yes it was probably dirty, but we have been working very hard to make it clean!

personally, heres what I'm thinking. I've seen all of the RISD bands expect Lake Highlands. I think Richardson's show is definitely disappointing because of how good there's was last year and now its not as good, and the tarp seems like a big disadvantage for them. I think Pearce has been improving but same as Richardson, the kids keep slipping on the carpets they have in the show. Berkner seems to be placing underneath Lake Highlands this season, so I am eager to know how they are doing.

Honestly I hope lake highlands makes state because their show is really good. But I agree with the tarp being a disadvantage. I honestly think that if we remove it and do plan b then we will make state. Because our final formation is literally a sun so the tarp is just an extra prop that doesn't really add anything interesting.

I honestly kind of feel like my senior year was stollen a little bit. This is extremely disappointing for me. This is something I’ve been looking forward to for my entire marching season.

Don’t be discouraged! I think my boys are disappointed as well, but nothing a trip to San Antonio to create more memories couldn’t cure.
