The 6A  Area C Finals is going to be an incredible night.  The long summer days, the holes on shoes, the sun burner necks, late night hydration runs, long football roads trips followed by early morning call times all with one goal in mind…a trip to State. There’s no more comparing shows from this year to last year. No more trying to say band x beat band z at this competition but were flipped at this other competition. Just one day, you get One march in prelims to claim a spot in finals. 10 teams will march on to the evening. Then it’s one march for state. Mano y mano, plume to plume. 217 heartbeats, beating as one! 8 minutes and 47 seconds to be your best. To have the march of a lifetime. Then it’s the wait. The adrenaline let down….the release of emotions as directors, marchers, and parents hold their breaths….in 10th place…you wonder if you did enough….in 9th place….what could I have done better…..in 8th place….ok ok what number are they on….in 7th place….omg…I can’t hear him. Who do he say…in 6th place…..breath breath breath we are ok. It’s all going to be ok. In 5th place….please don’t say us, please don’t say us…..in 4th place AND ADVANCING to State…..THE………

See you next weekend in Mesquite

You didn’t have to make me that emotional man!!!

Does anyone have the score sheet from Duncanville comp?

Both Prelims and Finals recaps have now been posted to this site in the Duncanville Marching Invitational thread.

It looks like the Prelim recap issues* were not addressed before this release. Perhaps a corrected* Prelims recap will still make an appearance later.

*NOTE: Apparently an error was made as the initial Prelims recap rankings and announcements were not correct and adjustments were made to the Finals performance order before Finals began.

Thunderstorms predicted for Saturday and even on the inclement weather day on Monday. What happens in this situation if both days are rained out? MISD does have the covered football field at Memorial but I wonder if they’ll be able to use it for these events.

Richardson placed 27th and Heath placed 18th. I'm not sure if the person passed out or just fell, but I'm pretty sure that it was at the region contest and not boa.

richardson had multiple people fall because of their tarp getting caught in the wind and they had electronics failures. I wouldn't say BOA Waco was a good judgement of their placement in area. Especially because people had them possibly making finals at Waco.

I heard that each band will pick two members to conduct a wheel  barrel race from goal line to goal line.  First 4 4 to cross the goal line go to state.  Good Luck....choose wisely. :)

Respectfully, we got this, undoubtedly lol. Go ahead and crown us state champs if that’s the case. Just gotta put either 2 from our trumpets or saxes and we’re golden 😂

The Duncanville Marching Invitational created a new judging system in ‘94 (which the UIL Area and State competition adopted in ‘98 until 2020. It is controversial, but also surprises me how Duncanville couldn’t snag championships considering they created the rubric for the state marching competition. It has changed since then and the state and area contests I believe have changed as well. Unless, area is still the same.

They did win their last championship in 2002 and placed very high every state year until 2012 (making their last finals performance in 2014).

I think it’s funny how it’s controversial back then and even now. Even though they are not up to par with the current bands dominating the industry. They use to be the blueprint before any bands really made a name for themselves. Dr. Tom Shine had a grip on the competitions.

If we put our trumpets and your trumpets together we'd be done by the time the other bands even crossed the 50 ;)
