JFNDOWBFAN Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 The "C Shakeup" is going to be fascinating and leaves things wide open. Waxahachie, Forney, Rockwall, Berker, Duncanville.....don't sleep on Heath and Royse City....I feel at this point, Rockwall is ahead of where they were at this point the past few years. Football team has 4 long road trips this year....hoping band is able to rest up on those trips though... maybe prep them for a bus ride to San Antonio this November! Quote
crunchycookie3 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I'm not sure this will be the Waxahachie runaway people are predicting--let's not forget Forney passed Leander in finals last year at state, and has only become bigger since then. In fact, I'm currently thinking they're the favorite to win this area in their first year at the 6A level. Of course, Waxahachie always wayyyy places my expectations when it comes to UIL. Even still, I'm thinking we'll have a brand new 6A area champ this year. BoneGuy4 1 Quote

Obviously, that's for now, once the season gets going but if we had no new comps to base predictions on I'd probably have Forney in 1st. Quote

This has always been a fun one with just about every single band having finals potential and the top 15 having state potential. This is arguably the toughest area in the state of Texas and truly no one is safe (except the LISD trio of course) but you get the idea. Expand Think adding Forney will be awesome! Quote

Ik it’s a complete different comp, and they definitely have a chance at finals, but unless it’s a miracle year, probably bottom 2. CosmicLimbo Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I really like the balance of this area tbh. Even with Waxahachie and Forney being the front runners, it feels like a lot of groups, even some that aren’t mentioned as often but are still know for being excellent such as Sachse, John Horn, and Lake Highlands could definitely have a shot at top 4 if they play their cards correctly. I also think 4 state spots seems pretty fair (imo at least) for this group as it feels achievable to snag a spot but is also not a walk in the park either. I do wish things were a little more balanced for our friends in Area B and J tho. As for Berkner, I think this is a great opportunity for them to build on last year’s success and hopefully start producing more state appearances. Finally, something I’d really like to see is for Lake Highlands to make a great run and snag one of those spots. They were consistent finalists in Area B these last couple years and with the right show and execution, they can definitely find success here. Quote

Expand COVID literally killed the band, at least for a while, they did move themselves further away from last place last year but they still need to find their foundation and keep improving in order to reach where they used to be in 2018, I feel for those directors that watched the band crash because of something completely out of their control, because a simple director change doesnt make you go from the size of McKinney Boyd/Sachse along with being a state qualifier to barely having a percussion section and being near last in the area in a year Quote
