Well, Area F definitely surprised me in many ways this past season, like Birdville making state, CH and Azle not making state, Cleburne making finals, Arlington Heights placing way higher than expected, and Brewer and Burleson placing way lower than expected. Anyways, I think this will be the year that area F sends 5 bands to state due to Chisholm Trail, Fossil Ridge, and Paschal dropping to 5A. Southwest is dropping to 4A but the current 6A bands dropping make up for it. We would have 30 bands in area F next year, so if every band were to make 1's (which probably won't), there would be a maximum of 12 finalists and 6 state advancers. So we'll just go with the 10 and 5. I think there could be a mix up in the state advancers this year now with Fossil Ridge being in this area. I think they might use this (being dropped) to their advantage and return to the dome this year, but of course they'll need to get past Birdville, Richland, Centennial, and Aledo but I believe they will if they work hard enough.

4. Colleyville Heritage

5. Birdville

6. Azle

7. Grapevine

8. Midlothian

9. Fossil Ridge

10. Saginaw

11. Burleson

12. Chisholm Trail

So with 31 bands in this area, I’m going to make the prediction that 30 bands will get 1s at region this year. There has been improvement in the FWISD bands in concert/sight reading this year, so hopefully that success will translate into marching season, bring the number of qualifying bands up. However, they are moving to region 30, which seems to have stricter judges than region 5, so they might be unlucky once again, and we’ll only get 10 finalists and 5 state bands instead of 12 and 6, but only time can tell I guess.

Grapevine should be in the top 8 race atleast

They had an awesome show last year, and really hope they get back to state soon! Really loved their musical selections last season, by far their best show in a while and hope they build off last season. I’d imagine will be back in finals here and honestly have a shot at state imo.

Yeah, true I accidentally forgot grapevine, I think they would be 7th, between azle and midlothian.

With two 6a bands coming in i have a feeling that this area might turn into a top 5 goes to state which un that case Grapevine making state isnt a far shot. Grapevine would have to get passed Colleyville or Birdville but its not impossible.

not trying to be biased because im from timberview band, but this years show and rookies have been phenomenal and the band has been the biggest it’s been in a while, keep an eye out on us this season 🙏 can’t wait for this area comp

No problem with being biased just be open minded. I thought Timberview had a fine show last year, Area F is tough but with possibly of having 5 representatives opens the door for bands like Timberview. Good Luck on your season.

Colleyville has a new head band director this year that was the assistant band director at grapevine last year, im interested to see how that affects both programs at this competition. The Grapevine directors did a fantastic job last season of lifting the program to 6th which i think is one of their highest finishes in 10 years or so. Also Colleyville’s former head band director is now the head band director at Granbury! We’ll see how Granbury does in this too, finals maybe?

10. Everman

11. Granbury

12. North Side

13. Aledo

14. Cleburne

15. Summit

16. Timberview

17. Newman Smith

18. Burleson Centennial

19. Richland

Early Prediction:

1. Aledo/Burleson Centennial

3. Richland

4. Colleyville Heritage

5. Birdville

6. Azle

7. Midlothian

8. Burleson

9. Fossil Ridge

10. Saginaw

11. Paschal

12. Chisolm Trail

Just looking at scores from the past few years and how bands have changed regarding placements and competitiveness; I could see any of the top 3 bands changing positions. Yet, it's still early and hard to tell who will be a heavy hitter this season. I am also excited to see Aledo and Centennial going head-to-head this season and what each band has to offer. Feel free to share any disagreements you may have with my rankings.

Based on Aledo's previous 3-peat at this competition, I find it hard to believe that they will go from 1st place straight to 3rd, possibly second place but it will be up to how well Aledo/Centennial perform throughout the season.

I feel like the top 3 could be in any order. I could see Aledo in 3rd. Ik they’ve won here the last who knows how many but Richland almost won last year, and then Centennial beat both at state. I would also watch out for Fossil Ridge. They’ve been getting better i honestly think they could make a run for state soon. Will be fun to see how this ones goes, will be another big battle for that last spot.

wait so how does this work? is it the order bands will be performing in? if thats the case then that doesnt make sense because dont bands have to qualify by getting division 1 ratings at uil region to even be in area in the first place?

Expand

Yes if you were to line up the numbers 1- however many that's the order. If a band doesn't qualify than they adjust the schedule but they've always done the drawings long before the contest for area, mainly so the directors and kids can prepare early for any super early call times

Something I've decided to do this year is create area rankings that are updated weekly. Rankings are changed each week based on contest results, the likelihood of beating other bands ranked ahead of them, and UIL region results. Here's where the rankings currently stand as of this week:

1. Aledo

2. Burleson Centennial

3. Richland

4. Birdville

5. Fossil Ridge

6. Azle

7. Colleyville Heritage

8. Grapevine

9. Midlothian

10. Burleson

11. Joshua

12. Granbury

13. Chisholm Trail

14. Summit

15. Paschal

16. Brewer

17. Midlothian Heritage

18. Timberview

19. Saginaw

20. Cleburne

21. Creekview

22. Newman Smith

23. Arlington Heights

24. Everman

25. Juan Seguin

26. Turner

27. South Hills

28. Trimble Tech

29. OD Wyatt

30. Polytechnic

31. North Side

Since top five (probably) will go to state, here’s what I’m thinking for placements.

1. Burleson Centennial

2. Aledo

3. Richland

4. Birdville

5. Fossil Ridge

I think Aledo wins here, especially with the momentum they’ve had, completely different program, could honestly be there best show ever, and I also think Colleyville is back in, won POC and placed ahead of B-cen in prelims of Birdville, could definitely change tonight but regardless good showing, but I do think Richland goes back, with 5th being a battle Fossil Ridge, Birdville and Azle, maybe other potential finalist

Heritage might be a solid choice for fifth. Aledo will probably win, Cen10 for second followed by Richland and birdville, with fifth being probably heritage but maybe fossil ridge depending on their performance

Heritage just beat Cen10 at B-Ville, think they are top 3 here fs 👀

Ik that comp is judged differently but I think they are back. I’d say 5th is the battle with Aledo,BC, CH and Richland being locks, though Richland I could see getting passed…possibly, though they should be fine
