Area season is finally upon us! This area is extremely competitive this year, and making state, mainly those last two spots, will be a real battle. I don't yet know how many they are taking to state, but it looks like it will be 5? Any information would be great, still waiting for the schedule to be released. Anyways, here are my Final predictions for this area:

1st. Aledo

2nd. Colleyville Hertiage

3rd. Burleson Centennial

4th. Richland/Birdville/Midlothian

5th. B-ville/Richland/Midlo

6th. Midlo/B-ville/Richland

7th. Azle

8th. Grapevine

9th. Burleson

10th. Joshua

I could see Azle placing higher, maybe even making state, they just tend to have more Boa styled shows, but they are really good this year. Good luck to everyone competing here next weekend, will be fun to see how things shake out!!

Grapevine was right next to Midlo and not far off BC at Waco, they should be in the 4-6 conversation

We’ll see how many go to state after Region 5 on Tuesday, but it’s looking like 5 at the moment.

Congrats to Aledo and Burleson Centenial for making finals at BOA Waco and to Grapevine for winning a competitive Class 2A championship. These bands showed why Area F is one of the most competitive in the state. BC and Aledo were already pretty much locks for state but now Grapevine enters the highly competitive race with Richland, Colleyville Heritage and Midlothian for state spots.

I wouldn’t seperate Burleson Centennial from the rest as being locks, the only band locked for state right now is Aledo. Burleson Centinnial i could see lose to Colleyville and richland at area and vice versa. They definitely need their best run at area finals for a shot.

I certainly wouldnt count Fossil Ridge out. I think they could compete for a 5th place as well. They did beat Birdville at one competition this year.

I was honestly super suprise by BC last night- I was one of the performing bands in finals and def was not expecting 10th for them after all the hype

State 1. Aledo

easy

State 2. Cen10

State 3. Colleyville

I know Colleyville won 5A at Birdville, but Cen10 won more captions that matter at Area like music and visual

State 4. Richland

Good but the top 3 are better

State 5. Grapevine

Improved since last year, and I think people forget Grapevine got 6th at finals last year

6. Midlo

Much better than last year, but will have to see how their success translate to Area

7. Birdville

good state run last year, but it feels like a bit a regression year for them

8. Azle

haven't had Area success but perhaps they make a run

9. Fossil Ridge

10. Pashcal/Chisholm Trail

former 6A bands got put in a difficult area

I would put midlo in 5th because they did beat grapevine at boa waco in all categories execpt for GE. Which GE to my knowledge isnt as heavy in UIL.

Does anyone know how many bands have qualified for area here? And how many bands are left for region tomorrow?

5 more schools for this area go tomorrow in region 5. 23 schools have qualified for this area so far. As long as 2 bands receive a 1st divison tomorrow, 25 bands will be at this area and 5 bands will be able to advance to state

Is it true there isn't a guard caption at Area? Why?

There are 0 captions at Area. UIL does not give out captions in its marching competitions. Everything is ordinal based.

My predictions for finals:

1. Aledo -No doubt, they are one of the best 5A bands in this metroplex and are a few members away from being a 6A.

2. Burleson Centennial -I feel like they have been consistent in this area for years now and I don't believe they can fall off this year, especially with their outstanding percussion.

3. Colleyville Heritage -Their show this year is much better and more entertaining than last year's, I could see them make state this year for sure. Their color guard would win the guard caption if UIL Area gave out captions.

4. Birdville -They got 4th both in prelims and finals last year; they have been very consistent and their show this year is spectacular. They also defeated Fossil Ridge at Don Hanna by a safe margin; I also see them possibly switching rankings with Richland: they are neck and neck.

5. Richland -Their show is pretty solid and incredible, and they have scored consistently well in all of their competitions so far; I could definitely see them make state like last year. I do have to admit, they will be neck and neck with Birdville for sure.

6. Midlothian -Their show has gained a reputation this year, and I feel like they 100% could make state; I don't deny their capability.

7. Fossil Ridge -Recently moved down from 6a, and their show is pretty solid but not spectacular enough to beat these other bands; additionally, they scored lower than all top 4 bands in recent competitions.

8. Grapevine -Although an entertaining show, I don't think they can make state despite their sweepstakes at BOA Waco 2A awards simply because of their past results and size. I could see them make state if they have a really solid run.

9. Azle -I have to admit, I have not seen their show so I am assuming for this one based on past UIL Area rankings.

10. Chisholm Trail -They did well at Birdville Marching Festival and they could make area finals but I don't see them making state.

Good luck to all those performing this Saturday.

I honestly don’t know if BC will get second. I think heritage may beat them- their show concepts pretty cool but I saw them at BOA Waco and there were a lot of out of time feet and it was super exposed in their half-time marching  (could have just been that run though)

from what i know individual marching is what kills BC but all the ensemble stuff is really good so if they can clean that up i think they'll be fine

if you dont mind me asking, whats your reasoning behind CH earning guard caption if there was one at area? They only have like 6 members, and yes i understand its easier for them to clean that way, but they lack coverage on the field due to their small team.

my finals predictions

1)aledo

2)C.H.

3)BC

4)richland

5)azle

6)midlo

7)birdville

8)fossil ridge

9)chisholm trail

10)joshua

obviously this area is taking 5 to state so that’s awsome  but also i dont put grapevine in my finals because of how early they have to go on, they have to be at the stadium at 6:30  i also have joshua in my finals because they are the last band to go on in prelims so i think they will squeak their way in there

Here’s an updated run from Fridge.

think the reason why ridge did not make finals in Birdville because it’s their first time completing their show around the week of BMC. But they got 15th but I mean it’s a good spot for them. They also have a good comfortable schedule for area which I think fossil ridge can advance to area at best but state, that’s up in the air atp
