Lakeview Centennial is listed 5A in the music alignments that were released.  I don't believe just because athletics opted up music has to as well, though I am not 100% sure on that.  I don't see any downsides to competing in 5A for them in terms of fine arts.  They had an impressive showing last year in 6A, should do very well in 5A.

True. Lakeview Madrid finals last year in arguably the hardest area in 6A and I personally see them winning it all this year here.

I wouldn’t be to fast to count out Highland Park. While they have struggled the past two seasons in 6A, I really think it was bc of their “silly” and fun show designs, bc they still looked and sounded good, and they had great success with those style of shows in 5A. So, assuming they do that type of show again, they could very much win, but I do agree the LC could win it as well, we really just won’t know till the season starts

Bro I just realized that I typed in "Madrid" but I meant to say "made". Darn it auto correct 😭😭😭 but I do get your point with Highland Park though.

Do we know if bands like Lakeview Centennial that are opting up/down are competing here or at 6A area C? It seems like there’s still some confusion, as others have mentioned them competing in 6A and others in 5A. Assuming it’s 5A, which Imo is their best option for making state, I think they have a great shot at state. I’m imagining HP will once again run this area, as they did very well in 5A with their creative cute shows, and am thinking rn, assuming everyone stays in their actual class will look around these lines:

1st: Highland Park

2nd: Lakeview Centennial

3rd/4th: Poteet and North Mesquite-could be in any order

5th: Mount Pleasant(could be top 3)

6th: Red Oak

7th: West Mesquite

8th: Terrell

9th: Kaufman

10th: A lot of bands

Lakeview is opting down to competing in 5A

Okay that’s great to hear, should pretty early make state and do so for a while unless they move back up or new areas alignments, super excited to see this program hopefully finally make state

Switch Kaufman with WM and you’ve got my list. I’m taking a gut feeling they will do well here as they were pretty good in 4A, especially these past couple years. Could also see LV and HP switching, depends on how HP does back in 5A

Yeah, I could see why you would put Kaufman higher. I think I just put them lower because I didn’t know exactly how they were gonna do in a higher classification. And yeah I do think that lakeview and highland are interchangeable. The 3rd-5th place bands could change, and the 6th-8th place bands as well. Really Texas and Terrell could get kicked out if the other bands I listed below pull something off.

I feel like HP’s style of shows is more fit for 5A imo, unless there’s a director change then I see them winning this area.

personally, I feel we won't see them win the area just yet, maybe next year. But we will have to wait and see. I really hope they return to state!

Saw West Mesquite’s preview performance and they just keep getting better. Would put them 4/5(alternate to state), heck wouldn’t even count them out for state imho. What a fantastic season do they and North have ahead of them.

Good question, so are they competing 5A or 6A. Really enjoyed their show in 23

Based off the Regional draw Order on the official website for Region 3, Lakeview Centennial will be in conference 5A.

Click on the Region Draw Order and you should be able to see which conference they are under

Thanks for the link. Not sure I knew Kaufman was 5A too. In my mind Kaufman is still small town Texas.

Rockwall with the 6 draw. Hmmm could be last before dinner break or 1st after. Hard to get to mesquite that time of day but rather be last before dinner and home by 7:30 😂

For a better look at their show when they played North garland last night

Here is LCHS this week.  I think their ensamble sound needs some work for them to be one of the three that go on to state imho.  There were a couple of timing tears and dirty beats in the percussion.

PREDICTION:

North Mesquite

Poteet

Highland Park

West Mesquite / LCHS / Mt. Pleasant

Red Oak

Kaufman / Terrell / Texas HS

After watching HP I would like to amend this prediction.  They are not as strong as other bands this year.  WM might make an upset this year.  They are looking very clean and are just a wall of sound.  It was interesting watching NM and then WM right after last night.  Completion at area C is actually going to be intense.

PREDICTION:

North Mesquite

Poteet

West Mesquite / LCHS / Mt. Pleasant

Red Oak

Highland Park

Kaufman / Terrell / Texas HS
