Expand In previous years I would agree a little more. Although music is still the strength, I really enjoy their music program. GE wise I think they have some fantastic moments across the board, the musical phrasing and building is pretty top notch in that regard. I find the opener and closer in particular to be also exciting visually, huge field coverage, beautiful forms, and sequences, great direction ,etc. I think 4th-6th is very much in play, which would be a massive step up for them. OGFISD99 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 If we take a look at CP Rouse and Wakeland... they have more drill than Lone Star... that is what takes you from top 3 to 4th to 10th..... Being an old timer band member it's always been about who has the best technique marching, floating the forms and straight lines and diagnels ...... and the bands I see accomplishing these things are those 3 bands... Lone Star is almost there... they just need do a little more marching technique training and they'll be seriously taken at State Uil and BOA'S.. astronautika 1 Quote

DumbBandLoser Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I don't think Lone Star needs more movement and drill necessarily, but rather that they just need to execute what they have better. Quote

lost Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Cedar Park is a masterclass in turning it up when they have to. I have no real doubt they’re going to take the 5A title again this year. It’s not a culture you can build overnight. Bandmanio and Tubalord11 2 Quote
Popular Post gregorydf01 Posted October 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2024 It's going to be a good one to watch. Cedar Park and Rouse are both great bands with very good shows this year. Lost is correct in that Cedar Park has a long consistent history of cleaning, performing and stepping it up at the end of the season. However, I can see Rouse doing well with that this year also. I would say betting odds are even money at this point (disclaimer: I am not betting or know of any betting, just a turn of phrase). Bandmanio, ElectricTuba and trumpetfunny 1 2 Quote

OGFISD99 Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 CP is going to do win again in my opinion.... From what I'm being told they are working on things for state to surprise everyone at prelims and finals.... Wakeland has a great chance to medal but it won't be for first... Quote
Popular Post NotGodsHornline Posted October 20, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 20, 2024 It's about time that these predictions started. 1. Cedar Park (Seriously what they do in finals every year is a trademark of Cedar Park, and they aren't likely to end that streak anytime soon) 2. Rouse (Amazing sounds from what I've seen and always striving for excellence) 3. Wakeland (0.05 points behind Marcus (the king of clean) at BOA Prosper is amazing for them and although not a huge fan of their show, I cannot deny how clean they are all around) 4. Leander (Love the Latin aspects, seems like they weren't happy with their scores last year and it shows... looking forward to seeing them) 5. Aledo (Nothing else to say besides this program is changing for the better. Almost a seamless show and chock full of general effect throughout) 6. Lone Star (Could see them taking Aledo for 5th, insane music book and love the quality of sound they bring on the field) 7. Hendrickson (It was very good when I saw it at BOA Waco, can see them doing very well in about 2 weeks to come) 8. Colleyville Heritage (So proud of them for how they've done this year, and it is hard to see them losing to the other bands in Area F that they have already beaten this season) 9-12. (Still unclear on how I should rank these, but I see Burleson Centennial, Friendswood, Roma, and Richland being somewhere in this range) Feel free to ask me about my rankings and discuss on your opinions, would love to hear feedback on this! clarinets74, tennertrumbow and Dave609 3 Quote
s38tfin Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I think that one band we will probably see at 5A state this year is Pflugerville HS. They are showing skill of marching without the references on the field (they have tarps similar to those of Center Grove 2018) and they are also sounding AMAZING. They definitely can make state, but the competitiveness of Area D may be a challenge Dave609 1 Quote

Below is my guess as to how many bands, plus which bands I could see advance from each area- Area A- If they keep it split like last year, then I don't see any major changes as to who advances, but these are my predictions- JM Hanks Lubbock-Cooper Lubbock Area B- This area will have a very interesting outcome, but overall, I see Wakeland and Lone Star being "locks" and then the final two spots being between McKinney North, Lebanon Trail, Argyle, and possibly The Colony? But here is how I see the results- Wakeland Lone Star Lebanon Trail Argyle Area C- this area has a huge change with Pine Tree and Forney both leaving. I feel that Lakeview Centennial will be the one to win this area, followed by Mesquite Poteet. But here is my predictions- Lakeview Centennial Mesquite Poteet Highland Park North Mesquite (If they send 4) Area D- This area will be interesting because of the way each band has a great chance of advancing. I think we will definitely see Hendrickson, Pieper, and Lake Belton advance. Then from there, I could see plenty of bands take the final spots, but here is what I predict- Hendrickson Pieper Lake Belton McCallum New Braunfels Jack C. Hays (If they send 6) Area E- This group had the biggest change for the upcoming season, and I think we could see a good amount of bands advance. Personally, these are the bands I see advancing- Friendswood HS A&M Consolidated Barbers Hill Kempner Porter Area F- This area will most likely send 5 bands to state, or even 6 if things work out well. These area the bands I see advancing- Aledo Burleson Centennial Richland Colleyville Heritage Birdville Azle or Fossil Ridge (If 6 bands advance) Area H- With this being the last area, I really hope they are able to send 4 bands to state. I don't see much change happening, but I do think Glenn will take it this time- Rouse Cedar Park Leander Glenn or Liberty Hill (I actually could see Glenn winning this time) Expand I think that Pflugerville may be able to overtake Hays or New Braunfels and make top 5 Quote
