Any pinions On A&m consolidated and Cs? I think the csisd bands could make a run for a finals spot this year, especially consolidated

I'm not too sure, I have not seen their show this year, but I bet it could be possible! we'll have to see though for sure!

not entirely related but still somewhat related to smbc, a few years back I believe dallas highland park was dominating the 5a smbc scene and now it seems like they're struggling even just in their own area. does anyone know anything about this?

I believe they are 6a now.

Like pretty much everywhere else in the state, there are decent rain chances in San Antonio on Monday and Tuesday.  While the performance area is sheltered within the Alamodome, all props and equipment are unloaded in the open air parking lot, and the front ensemble warm up areas are also outside in the elements.  That means all of the synth carts and other electronics will be at least somewhat exposed.

I really hope the rain holds off and doesn't affect the equipment.

Yes, and interfering with last-minute rehearsals!

CSHS was a very close second to Friendswood this year. It should be a great competition this year

thoughts on colleyville heritage?? i feel like they could make finals but on the predict they are ranked 13th so far...

I think they’ve got a super strong shot at finals!! Have been consistently at the top of the comps they’ve attended, and they have a good performance time, so as long as they have a clean run I think they’ve got a serious shot

Just as a general rule, I wouldn’t trust the overall prediction ratings, although it can be good to get a general idea of whats going on. I think CH is in the mix of bands fighting for like 8-15 where a few will unfortunately be left out. As we saw at their Area finals, it can sort of come down to the run. So if they have a stellar run to not only beat out their Area-mates, BC and Midlothian, but a few the others fighting for those spots, they could be higher.

its just tough with how strong 5A is getting to predict anything and the “finals tenures” are starting to get more and more set (not that its a real thing).

How do you guys feel about richland? I feel like if they work hard enough they might make finals, not sure if they will, I have no association with them but their show this year and last year were definitely something!

Case has now been closed

"The UIL Area G Executive Committee issued penalties deemed appropriate under UIL guidelines. Both marching bands are scheduled to perform in the 5A Preliminary Round at the UIL State Marching Band Contest in San Antonio"

There was another band that had one student not passing a class and they were disqualified from competition..... this is bit more blatant.... sometimes grades can  get overlooked by accident in the jumble of things... this practicing was done on purpose... I think the administrator's knew about it..

Richland has a better show this year than last years state finals. They just need to perform and let the cards fall where they may. I’ve been to several State contest with this group and seen some crazy stuff when it comes to judging. For example last year didn’t see Aledo not making finals and Richland did. Richland band and directors are wonderful. Yes we would like to make finals but it’s about continuing to improve each season and continuing the rich history this band has. Any band making it to State can hold there head high and know they are in a special group of 5A bands. Go Richland Band we are proud of you!

Welcome back, txbands forum.  :)

Guess there was a little too much site traffic yesterday, with all of the 4A and 6A Area comps, plus all the weather drama.

Speaking of weather drama, tomorrow's San Antonio forecast has rain chances peaking at 54%, right at 8 AM, which is our scheduled unload time in the Alamodome parking lot.  Ugh, really hoping the rain stays away.

While I do love the convenience of the dome from a weather perspective, the lot still seems like a logistical nightmare if it rains😵‍💫
