Wow! What a show by McKinney North!

All but two of the bands that I would have making the top 6 have performed now and I expect a great run from the remaining two.

Top 6 with ceilings and floors would be:

Cedar Park- 1st-2nd. Personally I see them running away with the ordinals but I'm not going to rule out a come from behind win by Rouse

Rouse- 1st-3rd. I mostly see them in second barring a surprise upset by them for first or by wakeland for second.

Wakeland- 2nd-4th. Third is where I see them landing ultimately but Leander could overtake them for the last medal spot with a very locked in performance.

Leander- 3rd-5th. It really depends on the quality of the run for them in my opinion, I would not rule them out of medal contention.

Lonestar- 4th-6th. I really like what they are doing this year and they sound great! I don't personally think they can push the ones above them out of medal contention but we have all been surprised before!

Aledo- 4th-6th. Best Aledo show in a long time, really excited to see them perform later today.

Just got home from SA, will be watching on NFHS for the rest of the day while trying to get some actual work done.  Didn't get a chance to sit in the stands and watch anyone, but Lone Star went just before us so we were waiting in the wings and at field level they sounded fantastic.  Cohen's "Hallelujah" gets me every time and they performed it beautifully.

In the past couple hours I was only able to watch part of McKinney North and then Richland. This is a great season for both of these groups. Neither are letting size dictate their sound output or musical presence. Both shows are a blast. McKinney North had not been on my radar until this season, but I will definitely be looking for them in the future.

This J.M. Hanks show is fun!  Maybe it's just me reminiscing over the music that I grew up to, but I love it.  And great soloists!

Another yep here.  Ever since the break it's gone to heck.  Then when it comes back it plays it a 1.5speed to catch up and the result is chaos....

Hendrickson: What a sound from this ensemble!!! Props are super cool, and everything done visually ties in super well together. The battery was locked in, nice feature.

 

Angleton: Drum Major cloaks are awesome! Loved the theme here. Trombone quartet was grooving! Congratulations on y’all’s first state appearance!

 

Roma: Opening drill for this band was beautiful. Such a good dark sound from this ensemble. Brass technique was crisp! Clarinet, Trombone, Euphonium trio was nice!!

 

Mckinney North: Easily a fan favorite. I hope the UIL formula is favorable to a show like this. These kids are wicked talented, especially that trumpet player! Small ensemble/solo stuff was outstanding.

 

Richland: Loved the soloists in this. Ensemble balance was amazing. Also the tone shift towards the end was so fun.

 

A&M Consolidated: Interesting show, fitting props. Trumpets killed it every time they were featured! Low brass and Bass Clarinet sound was super rich, loved that. Another show full of great solos.

 

JM Hanks: Uniforms for this show were cool! Loved the sound of the low brass! Some of the visual elements being done while playing were super impressive! The little strobe light by the stage was trying to hypnotize me.

 

Lakeview Centennial: Super challenging show! Love firebird. The back and forth brass stuff at the end was super nice. Brass lines in general were done nicely.

Incredibly mature dynamic control and tone production from Rouse. They move VERY well and I think they are one of the best in the game at staging right now. What a show!

Is anyone having luck watching NFHS?  My feed has been trash for the past couple hours.  Probably only getting to watch about 25% of every show.  I hope they get this fixed.

Ho-lee Aledo!!! That show has gotten so much better since BOA Bedford. So good. Add them to the 2-6 race (pun intended).

Great show!  I'd heard it was good and wasn't disappointed. I loved the interplay with the band and the props/stages.  So energetic and entertaining.
