I loved their show at Area. (I didn't see State, so I'm just looking at numbers.) There was a big gap between the scores of Roma and Lake Belton, so it seems like the 'right' 12 bands advanced. They can be proud of having a wonderful year and a bright future.

i am not surprised that argyle was that good, they were known for being the champions of 4a of course.

being from the austin area myself seeing liberty hill’s exponential growth has truly been a joy and tbh i think they’re a lot louder than most people give them credit for considering their size

sharyland’s woodwinds were soo good sometimes i cant wrap my mind around how high schoolers could be that good 😭

yeah i meant it in a good way. lake belton should be proud of that placement

Congrats to Area B! And the powerhouse will be getting stronger in ‘25 with Panther Creek joining the fray in moving up from 4A. Lone Star poised for its highest ever finish. Aledo was a showstopper in prelims. Feel for Lake Belton; I had them in. 

Let’s run it back tomorrow. Seniors, leave it ALL on the field. Enjoy your last runs.

Thanks for sharing! Today was a blast. I didn't get to watch CP but the top 6 or so bands' scores seem to align with the consensus here and in my noggin.

I'm curious about the scoring of Aledo's percussion (13th). I think their overall ranking is still about right, and I know scoring is subjective, but was there something big I missed?

The recap for yesterday's Prelims contest is NOT publicly available. I deleted the links because if they are found on here, you all are gonna get me in trouble with my Dad and he is gonna yell at me.

Seriously, we have a great relationship with the UIL and we don't want to jeopardize that. Thanks for understanding.

Regarding group photos in the stands:
Taking the group photo in the stands is the safest and most efficient way to get it done. Setting up the metal stands outside takes up a lot of room in the parking lot and that space is definitely limited. Also, doing the photo in the dome eliminates any possibility of weather-related issues that may come up. The same thing is done at contests that have the stadium space including the Grand National Championships. 

No process is going to be perfect. I understand the concerns, though.

Good morning all! Today is going to be a spectacular day full of performances from the top 12 5A bands in the state of Texas! This year is full of history and it will only get better from here. Best of luck to all who are competing today and make sure to have the best performances of the season!

I wouldn't say that. Area b has some pretty big powerhouses like Wakeland and Lone star, and from what I heard, Anna's show kinda screwed them over since the music had to be rearranged for a few spots since it didn't line up well and the drill was not the best for woodwinds at all. They also tried adding a double tongue feature for there show for the first time. I think they can be a great band but they need more time to grow into it. But for there first year in 5a I say they did pretty well. Their show from the start of the season to now improved a lot.

As a member of the Midlothian band I was honored to be able to play in a place like the Alamo dome. Congrats to everyone there and good luck to all the finalists preforming today. The season may be done a little earlier than I had wanted but I am super proud of everything we have done. All the bands that I saw were amazing. Good luck to yall and I hope a good clean run for everyone!!

Spoke to a couple of kids from CP, and even though they felt good about their performance yesterday, they felt that there were lots of room for improvement. I guess that's what makes them CP. I guess we should expect a better performance from them today.

They are one of the best at constantly improving up to the last possible second. I have full confidence that every single performance from now until finals at nats will be better than the last.

For all the band kids reading this that did not make finals (and those that did), listen carefully: you are still amazing, and you still are part of an amazing band program, and nothing will ever take that away from you.  I watched every single performance yesterday and they were all spectacular.  Every single band is made up of great kids that work hard together towards a common goal.  You are making memories, and friends, and learning skills that will last you a lifetime.

Hold your head high, you deserve to.

Yeah my kids at CP believe they have a better run in them for today.  But I have no doubt all the other bands are going to step it up for Finals.  Should be a lot of fun to watch.

Amazing performance last night. It was a joy to watch. Loved seeing our kids up and dancing along with you in the stands!

Lone Star’s entire band was up and grooving with the Bears in the upper deck. Was hilarious to watch. They were loving it!

Happy ya'll enjoyed it!! We had a blast performing for ya'll, by far the biggest crowd I've been in front of and it was just so cool seeing everyone having a good time! Also, we are here live on NFHS for the finals of the 5A state marching band contest! Will be here for all 12 bands and awards. LETS DO THIS EVERYONE!!!
