LostChoirGuy
I'm sad I missed the first half of Roma, but they played so well from what I heard. They must have some of the best directors in the whole state.
Popular Post Tubalord11
Really strong showing from Roma!! They really seem to have found their stride, because this band has really stepped it up these past couple seasons!! Plenty of visual references of different forms of the Moon throughout. Soloists were so on point, really mature sounds. They really pack a punch with that sound, really strong brass, and lots of clear sounds during the technical runs from both the brass and WW's. Really fun show and they performed so well, congrats on an amazing season Roma!! bk_bobb, WanderingTraveler and RouseCasa
WanderingTraveler
14 minutes ago, Tubalord11 said: Amazing performance from Friendswood!! Visuals were the highlights for me, SO MUCH individual bodywork demand that they are executing so unbelievably well!! Gurad was just WOW, super clean, so much up front work that they are just nailing! Such a big brass sound, really clean and clear articulation. Woodwinds were super clean, could have used a little more volume but might just be NFHS. Soloists were super clean, but the visual part of this show is wow, those kids were having so much fun, amazing job Friendswood!! This will be a fan favorite at GN's for sure! They have a super fun show. Know they are attending grand nats, so excited to see them there. Tailgate88 and Tubalord11

WanderingTraveler
Just now, TheirBiggestFan said: What did we miss? Unsure. Full breakdown of Norths show had judges ranking some categories 7,8,10,14…but 20th in percussion. There is a full breakdown out there somewhere. Lisajayes
Is it making anyone else crazy that they have the wrong band name listed? This is not Roma HS right now...Argh. Happy to see Argyle since I missed them yesterday. Love the soloists! RouseCasa

Tubalord11
ARGLY!!! Our second Texas band here going to GN's and their first time at 5A state, and they're already in finals, and so well deserved!!! I can't explain how much I love this show, it's such a "simple" design yet they make it so much more. First off, soloists were just wow. That Tenor should be super proud of herself, and for such a small battery they do so well! Such a big and mature ensemble sound, tons of great moments throughout the brass and woodwinds. That ballad is just so beautiful, brought some tears to my eyes, such great work from the Trombone. Visually very clean, tons of picture moments throughout. So much effect with the big photographer running around throughout, just such an emotionally powerful show, amazing job Argyle!! They are here to stick around gregorydf01 and WanderingTraveler

Tubalord11
Super strong performance from Hendrickson!! Love the visual preshow, adds so much depth to the show going into the big hit!! Really great stuff from the WW's going into the second movement! Gosh the ballad is just so pretty, really solid work from the Euph soloists. So much visual demand throughout that really just brings the show together. Great work from the battery, plenty of showcasing that they nailed. Great closing visual that brings it all together. Great job Hendrickson!! lost and WanderingTraveler
lost
Wow I did not realize the state contest was yesterday and today! Feeling a lot of emotions but congratulations to all the performers and finalists!
Tubalord11
Great stuff from Burleson Centennial!! Love me some How to Train Your Dragons music, and they perform it so well! I do wish they had just a little more power in the ensemble as a whole, but they are still doing good for their size. PERCUSSION, MY GOODNESS! Too no surprise they are cracked, I mean holy clean! Plenty of variety in dark and light music to help bring out the themes in the different parts of the show. Lovely flute duet in the ballad, so so pretty! Great visual work throughout, and a super solid showing, amazing job BC!! WanderingTraveler and PercDad4Life
Tailgate88
Burleson Centenniel's percussion is ridiculous. They have a crazy indoor percussion program as well. That was a heck of a show. Loved Argyle - can't wait to watch that show again at Grand Nats. This McKinney North show is putting a big ol' smile on my face. What a fun show! Love that they stepped out of the normal marching band type stuff and are just having a fun, jazzy blast of a time out there. And performing at a high level. PercDad4Life
BC percussion was 🔥🔥🔥. No wonder they were first in prelims. Need way more power to compete on this stage. Super fun music and the band really brought it home in thr closer. Congratulations on another successful season and earning a spot in the UIL 5A State Finals. Tubalord11
YES MCNINNEY NORTH!!! That run was just about as perfect as it could have been, WOW!! First off, that singer is just top notch, hitting some super high notes like its nothing!! All around, soloists were just insane. Super clean sounds from the entire ensemble, such a big presence but they play so controlled. Visually super clean, and plenty of effect with the high knees and other visual bodywork. Just goosebumps from start to finish, so entertaining, so, SO clean. Congratulations on being the first Mckinney ISD school on making state finals, super well deserved, and we will definitely be seeing them around for a while, WHAT A SHOW!!! Tubalord11
Wow Wakeland, just wow. This was by far their cleanest run, beyond impressive stuff. Visually so pleasing, I don't know how, but I am just now noticing the stick figures throughout in the drill, but I mean that drill was just so perfect. Unbelievable marching technique, just so satisfying to watch them move. Musically such a mature presence, really controlled sound with plenty of dynamic contrast. Soloists were amazing, that sax in the ballad is just chef's kiss. It might not be everyone's favorite Wakeland show, but it's definitely grown on me personally throughout the season and has such a great message. Definitely put up a fight for a medal, fantastic job Wakeland!! Band Dad 2021 and WanderingTraveler

Popular Post Tubalord11
Thank you, Lone Star, for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this show!! The growth of this program over the past few seasons has been extraordinary, and this year was no different. Super clean stuff from the WW's going into the opening hit, which was SO powerful!! That ballad has made me so emotional all season long, and today was no different. That trombone soloists were on point all season long, and the whole T-bone choir was just so beautiful. Visually as clean as it could have been, really great work on the cover downs, and a super strong finish. They have become one of my favorite HS marching bands, with the quality of not only the shows but the performers themselves increasing each year. Amazing performance Lonestar!! tubaplayer12, DumbBandLoser, LeanderMomma and 6 others 7
