whitewing09 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 How many failures do you have in your band?? its ridiculous we have 45 failures! ok i know it some of you people from big bands that have 200-300+ members dont really think 45 is alot but we have like 160 so 45 is a HUGE drop especially right before all of the competitions n such. Quote
G'townPIT Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 We usually only have 2 or 3 at most. And the alternates can cover that spot if it's not too late in the season. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Right now we have like 6 or something like that. It's kinda alot for a band our size, but we usually have more so it's o.k I guess. Quote
Claritone Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I think we had like 2 or 3 last year. Quote

Hopefully, your friends will be able to take care of things in the classroom and all will be well. Quote
FunkyFlute07 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 gosh. YEAH. We have like 50 failures (stupid poeple who don't turn in their work) but yeah, and we only have lik 150 or less! I'm so mad because these people are taking regular classes and blowoff classes, like Small Animal Care...it pisses me off because it sucks when we have to rewrite the WHOLE show when they leave. Aegis Fang Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 we have a tutoring thing during lunch to help people who are currently failing so that they can march this year. It really does help, we've gone from 48 people failing last friday to only 20 this friday, and hopefully that number will drop even farther by the cut this coming friday. Quote

We had a tutoring thing like that as well. People are more willing to help when their own success depends on you passing your classes or not. Quote
txsweetheart183 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 yea we dont have anything like that set up .. u just have to go to tutorials whenever the teacher tells u they are available if u are failing Quote
FunkyFlute07 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 yeah. tutorials are after school because practice starts at like 4:30... which is cool and teachers actually come in to help.... but people still don't come which only makes us worse. > Quote
TRtrumpet Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Our directors tutor us after school if we need it, it's pretty cool and it helps. Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 It friggen sucks no one cares about passing for band we have tutoring on wednesday and alot of the borderline people go but noone of the people who are failing bad. it sux that people dont care this year. my director was thinking of making a sets smaller and take the people out who have a history of failing but he did it so now we're screwed grades come a week before our first contest Quote
TX Suh-nare Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 16 out of 150. That sounds like nothing compared to 45-50, but if we have 5 fail, then our band director will pull us out of Arlington, the only BOA contest we're doing this year. Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Oh gosh thats strict. our band director gets like so mad at us but i dont think he would do that cuz our people have horrible attitudes and would be like "i didnt wanna go anyway" blah blah i hate band this year to much attitudes controversy and stupidity Quote

TRtrumpet Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I got a week to try and bring my spanish grade up... Quote
supermanuel Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 we have a record 8 failures this six weeks, it doesn't seem like a lot but they were all competition marchers and we had to replace them until the 3 weeks (the week of the "Houston" BOA regional) Quote
MartinHorn Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Two years ago 6 week grades came out 2 days before the first contest, and so one of our alternates had to learn our entire show in two days. Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 oh gosh that really sucks! Quote
