They both are cooking this year Expand Is it possible, yes. How realistic is it, probably not so. However, the numbers/judges have to work out perfectly, and this is assuming they beat all the other finalist which I don’t know, at least based off what I’ve seen, is super possible, but I’d be super happy if there was a tie regardless who it was, bc almost all of these bands are state worthy Quote

I know that your band program missing out of finals is a devastating thing to happen to the entire program.. everyone feels like crap, but flat out saying that a band program single handedly took a state spot from another program is not fair to anyone. It makes the band that you are representing online look bad and gives you a bad wrap to your directors. All it takes is one of these band parents(which I guarantee you they stalk these forums) to email one of your directors. I'm not even going to dive in detail about how wrong you are about the state spots being "stolen", because that's not the main purpose of this reply. Instead of boasting on the internet about why your band program should be placed higher than another band, maybe just let the work speak for itself. The judges were hired for a reason. Expand I didn't go to any of these schools, I graduated high school years ago and the sole purpose of my post was to put my thoughts out there, not to put any other band programs down. Prosper obviously had a strong show, they wouldn't have advanced if they didn't, but I know several schools have a bit of a "ranking rivalry" so to say, like Boyd and Prosper. 2022 Boyd went to state by a tiebreaker and 2023, Prosper got really far and Boyd didn't go by one spot. Either way, I apologize for coming off as rude or anything like that, but these are just things that I have heard through others in these forums and from members of the two bands. Expand my thoughts exactly... "stolen" is in no way what happened at area last year, prosper very well earned their spot at state. I am from mckinney and to be honest putting down other bands like that just because you dont agree with the placement they got is so immature. i just read your response and whether you graduated already or not you should know better. instead of being so negative can you not just say your thoughts in a professional and decent manner? what i actually logged on here to say before i got caught up with all of this is that all of these bands are really talented and i think that so many of these bands have potential to place high. i have tried to predict who could come in fourth for finals but really it comes down to the smallest differences. tomorrow will be tough and likely a very close contest, and though i can't be there, i'll be keeping up on here. good luck area j!!! CoachB Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I will be there rain or shine. Across from MISD stadium is a pizza place called Jet’s. They have hot slice combo that is pretty good and not too expensive you get two slices and a drink for around $7.50. The only downside is they are take out only. I hope each band reaches their potential and have their best run yet. We have not been to many comps this year. We went to BOA Prosper but that’s it so I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the bands. Quote

jacturn Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Any updates on the Area J inclement weather decision. I looked at the next 24 hours and it says it will begin to rain around 3pm so it might affect the later bands who perform in the afternoon part. Hopefully everyone stays dry tomorrow and have a smooth contest! Quote
txbandfan20 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Anyone know if this event allows in and out? I live about 10 minutes from the stadium and would love to see Hebron in the morning and then go back later in the afternoon to see my kid's band. Don't want to leave finals to chance in case it ends up being rained out. Quote
