Expand I kinda feel bad for them and Canton. There’s been so much negative on this thread like they are shadows of their former self’s. I didn’t get that impression from the videos that were shared and that I’ve seen. im routing for them and everyone else to have their best performances and I hope it’s a hard decision for the judges. I hope I can get to this contest and watch. Bray and GarbagePatchKid 2 Quote

"Sounds" like a 6A or 5A is really not a great description for any band though. There are 5A & 6A schools in Texas marching 50-75 performers. Expand They are serious about it too. One of the guides on judging even states something like: "In Texas we march and play, not march then play." Some of the bands I have seen video of could potentially lose significant points there. Quote

Expand To answer that, no there are bands that are in the 5A & 6A Classes that do not sound all that well. I mentioned early on in the season Lumberton did in fact sound like a 5A/6A Band. Let me talk more about that. Lumberton has layers in their show musically that you don't typically find in a show that is not 5A or 6A. In general, 5A and 6A band programs tend to score better than 1A - 4A. That goes for musically and visually. Lumberton's show this year is something completely different than what has come out of the program in at least the last decade. I think it has high potential to go far and honestly seeing all the comments about Lumberton being mid just fuels the inside of me into wanting Lumberton to absolutely dominate. I do want to say even though musically Lumberton sounds very good, they need to clean (of course we are in THAT time of the season) and just do something with that ending. Quote
BandDad85 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 So the parking looks like it is going to be a nightmare. Expand They really need to find a new location. It was tight parking last year with just 15 bands. This year there are 24. So that could be 30-40 additional buses plus their trucks for props, uniforms, instruments, etc. AND both the spectators & students for 9 more bands. They need a new location or less bands per area... J-Mike16, Aggies and BandDad85 3 Quote

thejitfromband Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Less than a week left...Unfortunately, some awesome bands are not going to make the cut there's not enough spots for everyone. I just hope the judging sends the best bands to state. The judging was been a little wonky not too bad but still. I'm afraid a band may miss the cut because of incompetent judges. I'm unsure of my predictions now because of that as well. Anyhow good luck to everyone. If there would be a time to lock in it definitely would be right now.
