Does anyone have a full count of who all has got ones so far?

32 bands have made it onto Area so far. 18 of these are open bands and 14 are military. Region 3 and 9 are still to come this week which have the potential of 9 more bands. Right now we are sitting at 12 bands will move on to finals from prelims at area and then 6 bands will move onto state.

There is a great chance for 7, but super slim chance for 8 state qualifiers. Best of luck to the final 2 regions!

we are all cheering on the bands in the final 2 regions to all get 1's!!!!!!!!!

How do we know how many state slots are there. And are they all open class or are they split with military?

I may have read this wrong but it sounds like to me if the band declared as a military band at regionals and got a 1 they automatically advance to state.

Yes, for military bands, once they receive a 1 at region, they go straight to Military State because there are just not enough military bands for area competitions.

I think you are pretty much guaranteed three bands from Region 3 to make 1s with the potential for 7. Not really familiar with the Region 9 groups.

I will be there, I am apart of the Pit Crew for the band my daughter is in.  I will try to give updates when I am able too

If a total of 30 bands qualified for Area (military or not) then you would have 12 advancing to Area Finals and 6 advancing to State. 

If 35 bands qualified for Area then 12 would still advance to Finals and 7 would advance to state. You get 1 state band for every 5 in Area.

I will be there most of the day. I went back and forth between going to Area B or C but I think C will be more exciting.

Farmersville placed higher than them at the Celina Marching Invitational.  To be honest Sulphur Springs has a very good show and they are my prediction for number 1.

Area C AAAA will basically be a mini-SMC.

My thoughts exactly. Only band to see in B is Panther Creek and I think they are a definite for area champs. I still think celina will pull off the win in area C but the rest is up for grabs.

I don’t think they will get first but they have improved dramatically in the past few weeks.

How do we feel bands that haven’t been in this area before are going to do? Such as the bands from region 25 and a new 4A in Pine Tree

I know PT performed poorly at Princeton but the judging of that contest was all over the place. I was told one school was ranked second place by all judges except for one who ranked them dead last. I can’t remember if that school was Celina or Sherman. I think PT has a shot to make finals but I think qualifying for state will be challenging for them.
