Dave609 Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I accidentally put this in the wrong topic, and then found out there was no topic for this area. Area E is definitely going to be an interesting area to watch this year as there is a total of 38 to 47 bands in total in this area that could possibly advance to area! 5A Area E (8 South, 9, 10, 13, 17, 19, 23, 27, 33) Region 8 South (3)- A&M Consolidated HS College Station HS Rudder HS Region 9 (4)- Huntsville HS Lake Creek HS Montgomery HS Splendora HS Region 10 (6)- Dayton HS Nederland HS Port Arthur Memorial HS Port Neches-Groves HS United HS West Brook HS Region 13 (5)- Kempner HS Fort Bend Marshall HS Lamar Consolidated HS Lamar Randle HS Terry HS Region 17 (6)- Angleton HS Ball HS Friendswood HS Iowa Colony HS Santa Fe HS Texas City HS Region 19 (5)- Barbers Hill HS Baytown Sterling HS Baytown Lee HS La Porte HS Pasadena HS Region 23 (11) (Many of these schools don't always compete in Marching Band)- Austin (Houston) HS Chavez HS Debakey HS Energy Institute HS H Jane Long Academy HS Madison HS Milby HS Sharpstown HS Sterling (Houston) HS Waltrip HS Westbury HS Region 27 (2)- Brenham HS Spring Woods HS Region 33 (5)- Crosby HS Galena Park HS Kingwood Park HS Porter HS West Fork HS Quote
J-Mike16 Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 UIL Basically went back to what this Area was in 2017. 38 bands advanced with only 10 bands making finals, and then 7 advanced to 5A State. Quote
ruben_f Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Area E has changed a lot since the 2020-2022 realignment. Weren't there about 18 bands that went to this area? Now there are going to be over 40 bands if they all make it. I remember 2021 where 7 bands in finals and 3 went to state. The bands in this area weren't playing around lol. Quote
Popular Post Dave609 Posted June 3, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted June 3, 2024 I just realized that 2 of the 3 state advancers from last year for this area moved up to 6A (Fulshear HS and Foster HS). This opens up 2 spots for advancers to state which will make this Area a very interesting contest! I'm going to predict 5 bands that I feel could advance this year for this area- 1- Friendswood HS 2- A&M Consolidated HS 3- Barbers Hill HS 4- Porter HS 5- Kempner HS If this area is able to send 6 bands to state, then I will go with College Station as my last pick. Tailgate88 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Time to bump this topic with contest on Saturday! What are your latest predictions based on how the season goes? How many bands ended up advancing to area? Quote

I feel the 2 bands that will advance on so far is Friendswood HS and Barbers Hill HS. Outside of that, it's anyone's game Quote

Tailgate88 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Anyone have the schedule for Saturday yet and/or know how many bands advance to state? Quote
Jeng24 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 3rd,4th,5th, and sixth places for state are going to be a tussle. I would like to know on your opinions because i have absolutely no clue. Quote

Expand All I can tell you is College Station and A&M Consolidated are coming to make a run at it, and both went to state last time. This contest will have a lot more bands, but also a few more slots for State, so we'll see what happens. Best of luck to all. I know a couple other regions have contests today so hopefully we'll have the Saturday schedule by tomorrow morning sometime! Quote
Absolute Bearing Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 The number of bands advancing to State in this Area is heavily dependent on whether the three military bands who made a 1 but are not going to Area DO for sure count in the Area numbers. Right now it's looking like 27 bands to Area (so 5 to State) BUT in counting those three military bands (Crosby, Huntsville, and Nederland) it would reach that next threshold hold of 30, this sending 6 bands to State. Can anyone definitely confirm and point to that rule somewhere? Quote

Both CStat schools were at State last year, so they'd be hard to argue against. Porter is not far removed from their last State trip, so I expect them to be back in that hunt. That leaves schools such as Kempner, LaPorte, maybe Angleton, etc perhaps battling it out for a 6th spot. Who else is looking good? Quote

Expand I think that Brenham might have a chance since they did well at last year's area contest and then Galena Park too maybe. I'm hearing that the judging was interesting at the Channelview contest, but GP did barely beat Angleton in prelims and then placed much higher in finals. Quote

oddlynormal Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 This will be a GOOD one! To State most likely: Friendswood, Barbers Hill, A&M Consolidated, College Station, La Porte/Porter/Kempner Other Finalists: Galena Park, Angleton, and Randle/West Fork Dave609 and Tailgate88 2 Quote
Meester Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 6 will advance. 3 military schools and one other school will not be in attendance but still qualified so their number counts towards how many advance. There were exactly 30 qualifying schools so 12 in finals and 6 advance. Dave609 and Tailgate88 2 Quote

Tailgate88 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I heard from a reliable source last night that six bands were advancing, but then saw the schedule above and was confused....even with the three military bands included the math still didn't work. But mystery solved - one more (sadly) can't make it. I feel bad for those kids. Unfortunately I can't be there Saturday due to another band obligation, but will be there the next four after this! Best of luck to every single competitor! Dave609 1 Quote
