This area has had a HUGE change from previous years! Panther Creek is the only band that advanced from this area last year to return again to this area, but now they get to face many of the state advancers from Area D! This will be an interesting change to the area with 48 bands total, but will most likely fall somewhere between 25-35 bands in total, so we could see 7 bands advance from this area at most, but will most likely see 5-6 bands advance.

4A Area B (Region 2, 5, 7, 8 (Rest of), 20, 24, 30, 31)-

Region 2 (7)-

Aubrey HS
Bridgeport HS
Decatur HS
Gainesville HS
Krum HS
Lake Dallas HS
Sanger HS

Region 5 (0 Bands)

Region 7 (5)-

Brownwood HS
Burkburnett HS
Graham HS
Mineral Wells HS
Stephenville HS

Region 8 (7)-

China Spring HS
Connally HS
Gatesville HS
Hillsboro HS

Region 20 (10) (Most of these bands don't always compete in Marching Band or are NV)-

Carter HS
Conrad HS
Ferris HS
Hutchins HS
Kimball HS
Life School Waxahachie
Lincoln HS
North Dallas HS
Roosevelt HS
Pinkston HS

Region 24 (1)-

Panther Creek HS

Region 30 (17) (Some of the Ft. Worth bands either don't compete in marching band or are NV)-

Ft. Worth ISD (8)-

First I’ve heard of this realignment.  I haven’t been paying attention.

Holy balls this is gonna be wild.  I think based on what I witnessed at State Finals last year Panther Creek gets the win here.  That was honestly the best musical program I’ve heard from a 4A school ever.  I haven’t heard most of the other bands that weren’t previously in area D, so I won’t give an informed prediction at this time.

But I WILL make a prediction.

1. Panther Creek

2. China Spring

3. Some Ft. Worth school?

4. Springtown

5. Gatesville

6. Some other Ft. worth school?

Also the usual disclaimer that I am extremely biased for CS.

You think Gatesville is only getting 5th?

(Edit: not like that's a bad placement but considering area D last year, some people have already put us at 3rd)

Dude I don’t know I just threw people in places.  I also have never heard most of the schools that have been in area B so I’m trying to correct for potential Fort Worth schools that may be good or not.  I’ve heard something about a 5a school moving down too.  The point is I have no clue.  I’m obviously going to make more once I see Region 8 and any other contests I can make it to.  Also sounds like you’re from Gatesville, so best of luck this season!

I think top 3 in order will be Panther Creek, China Springs and Southwest, outside of that is fair game

Gatesville and Alvarado should do well here. If anything, the top 12-

1st- Panther Creek

2nd- China Spring

3rd- Ft. Worth Southwest

4th- Gatesville

5th- Alvarado

6th-12th (Any Order)- Springtown/Robinson/Castleberry/Kennedale/Aubrey/Lake Dallas/Krum

Outside that could probably make finals-

Brock HS

Glen Rose HS

Stephenville HS

Godley HS

Thanks for this! I’m only recently been getting into 4A but it’s only getting better and will be fully invested next season

no problem! This area will be very interesting, but my main focus this season will be Area B, Area C, Area D, and Area E because they all had changes, like Area D now has Region 13 and Area E no longer has Region 13. This will be a very interesting season for 4A!

Good list, but Southwest is actually in Ft Worth, not Frisco.

At least we get an honorable mention on “could probably make finals”

So it seems as of right now, some Region 30 bands has moved back to Area D. It's not showing that in the alignments, but it's showing only a few bands, mainly the Fort Worth bands, are in this Area and that everyone else may have moved back to Area D

This is the draw Order of Area B, and it is showing a completely different story of the alignment compared to the Alignment made on the website-

Aubrey (2)

Carter-Riverside (30)

Stephenville (7)

Southwest (30)

Salado (8)

Sanger (2)

Panther Creek (24)

Ranchview (31)

Roosevelt (20)

Dunbar (30)

Conrad (20)

North Dallas (20)

Carter (20)

Diamond Hill-Jarvis (30)

Life School Waxahachie (20)

What's particularly weird to me about this is that the three bands from southern Region 8 that were staying in Area D are included in this draw while the others that were moved are not. Must be a mistake on the UIL's part...

That was intentional, they detail it in the website where region alignments are posted.  I'm guessing they were trying to balance the areas, geographically it doesn't make a ton of sense.  Though they are a little farther north than the other Area D 4As.

This is the revised draw order for Area B. 48 bands total have drawn for this contest meaning that if all bands were to receive a 1st divison at region and made the intent to advance to Area, then the maximum number of bands that could be sent to state is 9 bands. But based on the possibility that some bands may receive a 2nd divison or lower, the range we are looking at for this area for the number of bands to advance to state is 6-7 bands with a chance that maybe even 8 bands could advance. Best of luck to all these amazing bands as they begin the journey to state!

4A Area B Draw Order (Revised on 8/21/24):

Brownwood HS (7)
Pinkston HS (20)
La Vega HS (8)
Decatur HS (2)
Robinson HS (8)
Graham HS (7)
Gatesville HS (8)
Lincoln HS (20)
Connally HS (8)

How likely would it be to send 8-9 bands to state from this area?

Expand

Looking at last year's results, out of the 48 bands now in 4A Area B, 30 advanced to their respective area contest (whether they were in 3A, 4A, or 5A and Area B or Area D), which would only mean 6 bands advancing to State.

Some things of note, 7 of the 48 bands (none of whom received a 1 last year at Region) were noted as Non-Varsity Bands last year, so they wouldn't've even advanced to area if they received a 1. Eagle Mountain is a brand new school this year, so there is no data on them, and I couldn't find anything on Lincoln High School's marching band (not even sure if they've had one up to this point).

Looking at both last year's and the previous year's results and which bands have or have not advanced, I'd say we can safely bet that 6 bands will advance to State and hope for 7. Any more than that might be too optimistic. If things go awry though, we might see only 5 bands advance. "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."

What do you think about Krum this year I saw them at HEB and I feel like they have a shot at state their show this year really has some potential.

I'm really impressed.  They get just a little better every year, I think this could be the year they advance.

1. Panther creek - Pretty much guaranteed 1st place in area, and more than likely will win the state competition.

2. China Spring - State band Pretty consistently, and has competed at very high levels with many great shows.

3. Aubrey - They made area finals for this area last year, and they finished 6th. Now that Anna and Kaufman moved up, along with Canton, Celina, and Farmersville, it only leaves Panther Creek ahead of them.

4. Krum - They really had a good show in 2022 and I believed they had a great spot at making state that year. They are making great progress and improving year after year.

5. Sanger - decent band, I don't remember if they made finals in the last couple of years, but they did make area B which and compete with many of those great bands, now that the competition is easier in this area, they will probably make area finals and possibly make state.

Alvarado - I haven't seen them, but I hear they are a good band. Since I dint know the variability of this band, I can't place them anywhere rn.
