the only thing im worried about is our props, we have these props that arent like usual tarps that have a plain background, we have giant cardboard (its definetly not cardboard but thats what it feels like) cutouts that have wooden support beams, if the wind is too strong, the beam will snap in half. same with our front-runners, because they have leaves that come out of the front-runner to match it. the wooden support beam snapping happened in springtown, we also have tarps that we roll out on the ground for like a whole minute (idek if its a full minute), so iḿ just hoping that the wind isnt too strong during area prelims

You’re from Gatesville, y’all have flower props(that are beautiful btw), I remember that “wilt”…….

thank you for that!! theres a (i think) 2A school thats also doing a flower show that wants to rent our flower props if they make it to state, i dont know the school name nor do i know if they amde it to state or not, but honestly i woulda done the same thing, i have never seen props like ours from a 4A school, mainly because they are literaly cutouts of flowers (which they cut it out so well that some of the corners [not even an actual like corner] can cut your finger or something)

Oh dang, well I hope your props don't get ruined and I genuinely mean that. Also I hope you can make finals (if there is a finals performance, let's hope for no rain) so that I can see the show that you guys will put on the field on Saturday

Personally, this is my final predictions (in my opinion)-

1st- Panther Creek
2nd- China Spring
3rd- Alvarado
4th- Gatesville
5th- Krum
6th- Robinson
7th- Kennedale
8th- Castleberry
9th- Lake Dallas
10th- Springtown

First 2 out (Any Order)- Brock & Sanger

Now anything can happen and if it does end up raining for this area, then it could change a lot on who places where. Best of luck though to all competing in this area!

What do you have against Brock & Sanger?  I haven't seen Brock's show, but Sanger's is pretty good...

They’ve made finals in the past! I think with the changes to this area there will be a lot of new schools advancing. I have not seen Sanger’s show this year.

It is a great show, AND that 2nd place finish was earned on rain soaked, slick turf, which caused a couple falls - pretty sure if Sanger had had dry field conditions like the 1st place band, they would have taken it.

I have nothing against them. Those are the 2 bands that I could see switch with 9th and 10th place bands in my predictions. I also did note that anything can change and anything could happen at Area.

I know this is your opinion but I slightly disagree, unless kennedale did some miraculous cleaning of their show and now they are better than most 4a schools then they shouldn't be placed this high. at Sounds of Springtown, Brock, Gatesville, China Spring, and Alvarado made finals and Kennedale did not. now while I haven't seen their show, I just don't think they should be placed this high

I do agree with that but (in my opinion) I would agree that Kennedale has a pretty good show this year, and that they have a good chance of making finals and possibly state depending on how they do in finals. I wish the best for everyone at Area and may the weather be in your favor!

With rain expected all day Saturday, I wonder if it will level the playing field among all the bands...  I checked earlier, and it is pretty much a guaranteed 50%+ chance of rain during all performance times.  Monday it shows a slight chance of rain.

Looking at Accuweather, on Saturday most of the severe weather should stay west of Denton, while on Monday, Denton's right near the center. Apparently they're expecting 90mph wind gusts in some locations then. It should be clear on Tuesday, but I think it would be too late to tabulate the results at that point. I'm guessing they go ahead and do it on Saturday even if they aren't able to get finals in.

Why does UIL need the scores by like Monday. State is a whole week later it should be fine, or is it something to do with judges. It's pretty dumb in my opinion.

I mean, it honestly boils down to travel plans…Im sure they could pull a panel of judges together whenever, but getting travel plans, chaperones, hotels, busses, etc together for bands that advance to state takes a few days, so a week of time is kind of the minimum for some bands that are on the bubble.

I feel like Alvarado and Brock will be a fist fight, Brock has a wall of sound and Alvarado has good technique, since Brock moved from 3 to 4a, what is their chances of making state compared to Alvarado? I am flipping ideas, they are definitely on top 6 for prelims, if the rain doesn’t mess it up.

I don’t know, Brock has a good sound but there’s some bands at this area who have beat them at other contests. I think there are a lot of long standing 4a’s that simply have more kids. The lack of bodies on the field will be their downfall. Hoping the best for them though. Excited to see how everyone places

alvarado will 100% be a top finalist if not state contender, brock on the other hand is new to 4a, so they dont know how to really balance their shows with other 4a's, meaning that they dont know what most 4a shows are like, since they are new

marching band is all about uniformality, so the band has to look and sound good, if you're just good at music, your visual scores are going to the floor, but if you use some time to work on marching instead of using all of your time on music, then those scores could balance out and they could help you in the long run

meanwhile, alvarado has 8 band directors (correct me if im wrong), so they can balance out anything they need to, and they can get that extra work in as well

im not entirely sure how many brock has, but it definetly doesnt contend to alvardos amount
