Also I hope you can make finals (if there is a finals performance, let's hope for no rain) so that I can see the show that you guys will put on the field on Saturday Quote

Best of luck though to all competing in this area! Expand What do you have against Brock & Sanger? I haven't seen Brock's show, but Sanger's is pretty good... Quote
Areab4a Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 What are yalls opinions on Sangers show. They’ve had a much better show this year and the skill level has rised. What do you seem them making? Quote

I think with the changes to this area there will be a lot of new schools advancing. I have not seen Sanger’s show this year. Expand It is a great show, AND that 2nd place finish was earned on rain soaked, slick turf, which caused a couple falls - pretty sure if Sanger had had dry field conditions like the 1st place band, they would have taken it. I wish the best for everyone at Area and may the weather be in your favor! Quote
just.me Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 With rain expected all day Saturday, I wonder if it will level the playing field among all the bands... I checked earlier, and it is pretty much a guaranteed 50%+ chance of rain during all performance times. Monday it shows a slight chance of rain. Quote

Expand Looking at Accuweather, on Saturday most of the severe weather should stay west of Denton, while on Monday, Denton's right near the center. Apparently they're expecting 90mph wind gusts in some locations then. It should be clear on Tuesday, but I think it would be too late to tabulate the results at that point. I'm guessing they go ahead and do it on Saturday even if they aren't able to get finals in. Quote

Bass5Beater Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 There’s only supposed to be .15” of rain for the day, lasting from about from 9-12 pm in Denton for tomorrow, so let’s hope that’s true 🤞 Quote
Brodie Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I feel like Alvarado and Brock will be a fist fight, Brock has a wall of sound and Alvarado has good technique, since Brock moved from 3 to 4a, what is their chances of making state compared to Alvarado? I am flipping ideas, they are definitely on top 6 for prelims, if the rain doesn’t mess it up. Quote

Expand I don’t know, Brock has a good sound but there’s some bands at this area who have beat them at other contests. I think there are a lot of long standing 4a’s that simply have more kids. The lack of bodies on the field will be their downfall. Hoping the best for them though. Excited to see how everyone places Quote

Expand alvarado will 100% be a top finalist if not state contender, brock on the other hand is new to 4a, so they dont know how to really balance their shows with other 4a's, meaning that they dont know what most 4a shows are like, since they are new marching band is all about uniformality, so the band has to look and sound good, if you're just good at music, your visual scores are going to the floor, but if you use some time to work on marching instead of using all of your time on music, then those scores could balance out and they could help you in the long run meanwhile, alvarado has 8 band directors (correct me if im wrong), so they can balance out anything they need to, and they can get that extra work in as well im not entirely sure how many brock has, but it definetly doesnt contend to alvardos amount Quote

Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I am now in the stands for live roasting. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Springtown - I’m hearing really impressive things in this warmup. Solid sounds being made. Visual is not being executed on a high level yet. Lots of individual error. Horns are killing except for a high G that needed to be a little higher. Overall, good things happening. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Southwest - very impressive playing for that size. Carol Britten Chambers writes another baller book. Brass stuff was pretty tight; woodwind stuff was close behind. Great stuff. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Venus - fun show. Western fits well. The horse broke horse character before she got behind the prop though. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 China Spring - I don’t think that’s quite the run you wanted. There’s some spots that just don’t sound confident. I’ll chalk it up to Area jitters I guess. Other than that, some balance issues here and there and some feet issues here and there. Individual error is hard to delete, but you have to do it. Unbelievable sound in some spots. Go take it to Finals. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Godley - having to follow CS is a time slot of all time. Lots of unclear melodic material. The fact that it still sounds like that makes me think that it’s not the band; could easily be arranging. Some really great moments in there. Balance is great when it hits. Quote
Liam Allen Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 As of right now it appears that rain will hold off until about 11 pm. Quote
