No cypress woods this year, also congratulations to seven lakes for advancing for the first time!!

Yeah, Cypress Woods and Tompkins were the two state finalists from last cycle that missed the cut this time. The competition is tough. While I'm sure they're disappointed, they've both already had some pretty spectacular concert achievements this year. Cypress Woods' Wind Ensemble was invited to perform at Midwest this December. Tompkins' full Symphony Orchestra was also invited to Midwest and was named TMEA Honor Orchestra.

Thrilled for Seven Lakes! Can't wait to see them (or, rather, hear them) build on this success!

Agreed, very excited to see what this brings for Seven Lakes building onto it, I know this was Bridgelands first time, and another bands first time advancing to the area round, still waiting on the full placements of Area F

hope the prelims/semis judges like Glory of the Yankee Navy 'cause they're gonna hear it 6 times. well actually maybe not, bc the prelims are split up now.

cool to see tw make it to state for the first time in over 20 years. last time was my era, think we got 10th lol, and the only reason we made it to state was bc Westfield had won the previous time and freed up one of the 2 spots. marching/concert quality split, kinda like LD Bell in the early naughts. gotta develop that concert band musicianship!!

I got to see Coppell & Wylie HS perform at a pre-UIL festival this past March and both ensembles sounded AMAZING.ย

Curious to see where waxahachie ends up, played Hammersmith back in High school too and the nostalgia is strong there, so I'm a bit biased for them and it's a unique selection amongst the bands here this year, so that's very interesting too! Not the most played piece for sure

TMEA 6A State Semi-Finals will take place at a high school in the San Antonio area on Wednesday, July 24th.

The 22 competing bands will be split into 2 rooms of 11 bands. The top 5 bands from each room will advance to the state finals round taking place on Thursday, July 25th at the Texas Bandmasters Association annual convention.

Alright folks! For the few people who check this forum every once and a while lets see those predictions!

Impossible to predict without hearing the recordings. Could only base it on past results and difficulty of programs. With that being said, Flower Mound is the favorite and Coppell is the second favorite.

ugh, and we were so close to having Glory of the Yankee Navy be 50% of the marches in finals!! wish they had let in Haltom as an 11th band.

congrats to all. some interesting shifts b/w area and state, but when doesn't that happen? very subjective, esp having to consider difficulty of the rep versus cleanliness. curious who was in each room for semis.

Zone 2 order: was

Coppell by majority rule

Dawson

Waxahachieย

The Woodlands

Lake Travis

does that mean first place tie broken b/w Coppell and Dawson?? not surprising, both super strong as usual.

college park was 2nd in the other room according to their fb page. also not surprising, thought they sounded like a top 5er again, we'll see. shadow creek 5th then. leaving flomo, ctj, and marcus. guessing flomo in 1st but maybe not.
