Expand I would say it's the most traditional form of marching band. Contrary to what corps style bands do and are ever evolving, military bands strive to continue the military style. The non-band parents at football games who think marching bands only exist to serve the football team and think we only exist because of football are 100% incorrect. Marching band was birthed from the military, not as a form of halftime entertainment. Now, how it became a halftime performance I don't know. tej9017, Dave609 and JFNDOWBFAN 1 2 Quote

TexasStrangers Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I would lean towards Mineola as well. Yes, Mineola and Redwater went face to face at Pleasant Grove and ended up in a 3-way tie for 1st but Redwater was given the Championship for 2 of the judges had them ahead of Mineola. However, there was over a minute of the show that Mineola didn't do and not to mention it wasn't clean due to the complexity of the music/marching. Redwater did have a clean show but it was not near as complexed as Mineola's was. Mineola just went to Princeton/Celina the past two weeks and swept all the 3A awards including soundly defeating the 3A Champs last year (Whitesboro) at Princeton and almost won Celina last night. I finally saw their show and good lord the last 90 seconds is insane. (most of which they didn't do at Pleasant Grove) I think it will be close though Mineola and Redwater are always right there at the end. Quote

Have not seen Atlanta band in person. Redwater beat Mineola and winnsboro in pleasant grove invitational and yes I understand it is an early competition and not all is finalized but that is said for all the bands. I think Redwater has an excellent mixture in their sounds for the size band they are. I find it amazing that UIL will break up the 3A into upper and lower divisions for athletics but not for marching bands. I stand by my selections and really feel this will be an awesome year for Redwater band and their prisoner of time show! Quote

I would figure most of the bands did not have the final portion of their show. Redwater still has no props nor have they got the drill for their final remaining section. I think this year will be really tight amongst the top 4 bands in area c and I see these bands challenging each other at state for medals. This has been the best blend of sounds I have heard from Redwater since hearing them. I also heard Mineola at pleasant grove invitational and said that didn’t sound or look like a Mineola band. I am use to them knocking my face back in the stands and it just didn’t do that for me that time. I imagine they will improve as all bands so so I am very excited to see area c competition in the coming weeks. It should be one of the better comps. Quote

Mineola has always seemed to put on a good show but to say their show couldn’t be played by any other 3A band seems far fetched. I heard all three of the big hitters at region 4 today and it will be a super close margin between Atlanta, Mineola and Redwater for winning area C. I also think those three will be in the finals of state program as well. This area and this region seems to be the cream of crop for 3A bands in Texas. Hope all kids perform well during each performance. All these kids put in so much time to perform this shows that are spectacular. See everyone at area in white house. TexasStrangers 1 Quote
