I will just politely disagree at this time. Mineola has always seemed to put on a good show but to say their show couldn’t be played by any other 3A band seems far fetched. I heard all three of the big hitters at region 4 today and it will be a super close margin between Atlanta, Mineola and Redwater for winning area C. I also think those three will be in the finals of state program as well. This area and this region seems to be the cream of crop for 3A bands in Texas. Hope all kids perform well during each performance. All these kids put in so much time to perform this shows that are spectacular. See everyone at area in white house.

I agree with you, the race is very tight. I know Redwater marched without props, Mineola didn't use some of their props and had a few things they didn't do and Atlanta has a very good show. If you go back and look at several of the State Finals in 3A over the years a good majority of the finalists are from this area.

Area C 3A has had a couple of changes since last year. UIL added Region 3 to the Area, Liberty-Eylau dropped from 4A, Paul Pewitt dropped to 2A,  and Westwood (Palestine) petitioned to change regions, and essentially Area, and is now in Region 8.

Area C is also known for having military style bands that choose to compete in a different class. Several of the 53 bands listed will not be in attendance at Area. I'll list the ones I know for sure.

As of right now 10/19 27 bands have qualified for Area C. However, because 8 of them are military and get an automatic advancement to state but their number still counts for Area.

Region 3 (8 bands) will perform on Tuesday 10/22

Region 9 (2 bands) will perform on Tuesday 10/22

If Area C can get 3 more bands to qualify then 12 bands will make finals and 6 will go to State.

Any idea how these schools did? I saw on Commerce's Facebook where they made all 1's, but that's all I could find.

Is it possible that New Waverly didn't compete for them not to have scores on here?

Expand

I guess New Waverly didn't show up. Typically if a band doesn't show up they are scored a N/A but everyone else has performed so if that is the case then no bands from Region 9 qualified for Area.

Now I'm confused.... Wills Point is 4A and on the list to have performed today at the 3A/5A competition, earning all 1's. It says that Eustace is 3A and is scheduled to perform tomorrow at the 2A/4A competition.... So there's still a chance to get one more 3A school in the Area competition? Region 3 is stressing me out!! This momma wants a schedule for Saturday!

Will Point is definitely 4A. Not sure why they performed with 3A-5A. Probably locally scheduling issues of some sort (PSAT, maybe?)
