Dave609 Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Hey everyone, since an Area C topic was made for this conference, I thought I would also make one for the remaining ones, so this is Area B for conference 3A! Below you can see the bands that are apart of this area- Region 2 (7): Bowie HS Boyd HS Callisburg HS Paradise HS Pilot Point HS Ponder HS Valley View HS Region 7 (12): Breckenridge HS City View HS Comanche HS Dublin HS Early HS Eastland HS Henrietta HS Holliday HS Iowa Park HS Jacksboro HS Millsap HS (Switched from Region 30) Vernon HS Region 20 (1 NV): Madison HS (Non-Varsity) Region 24 (0 Bands) Region 25 (8): Bells HS Blue Ridge HS Gunter HS Howe HS Leonard HS Pottsboro HS S&S Consolidated HS Whitesboro HS Region 30 (Moved from Area D to Area B ) (4): Grandview HS Maypearl HS Peaster HS Tolar HS (Moved up from 2A) Region 31 (0 Bands) This area has seen quite a change. Region 3 was moved to Area C and Region 30 has moved to this area! In total, there area 31 bands, but based on the past, there will most likely be 4 bands that advance to state from this area, but could have a chance to send a fifth band. Should be interesting to see how Grandview does in this area and to also see how Tolar HS does being a new 3A band. Quote
CaelusSky22 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I feel like this year is going to see some change. With 5 bands, 3 of them being area finalists last year, moving out of the area, I think There'll be some new faces in the finals. I definitely see Whitesboro, Holliday, and Howe going back to State this year. I see Iowa Park, Pottsboro, and Pilot Point battling it for the other spot for state. None of the new bands from region 30 really strike me as state level, but maybe area finalists. Grandview might also make finals, but not not state. They have been slowly falling a bit back in the past years in Area D. A few bands I might see making it in the lower spots of area finals area Jacksboro, Bowie, Bells, Millsap, and Gunter. So really, I see the rankings as STATE 1. Whitesboro 2. Holliday 3. Howe POSSIBLE STATE (ANY ORDER) 4. Iowa Park 5. Pilot Point 6. Pottsboro AREA FINALISTS (ANY ORDER) Grandview Bells Jacksboro Gunter Millsap Bowie Dave609 and bxOxAxUIL 2 Quote
TexasStrangers Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 I hope Area B does well but other then Whitesboro, Holliday and Howe, historically there isn't much competition there. The big battle for 3A usually goes on out East. I hope I am wrong because I wish more bands could go to state and experience the excitement. Quote
warriontasm Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Has anybody seen Holliday yet this year? Quote
CaelusSky22 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Does anyone know the order bands will be performing in? My director said they pre-drew this year. I know the last couple bands (can't remember the order) are Dublin, Bowie, Tolar, Blue Ridge, and Maypearl. And right before them in order is Holliday, Gunter, then Millsap. Quote

CaelusSky22 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Found the draw order. Here it is for anyone looking for it. Area B 3A Draw 2024.pdfFetching info... Quote
CaelusSky22 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Based on this order I found, I have a new guess. This is based solely on performance order this year and the Area rank last year. I have not seen most of these bands, so I'm probably wrong. PRELIMS AND FINALS GUESS 1st - Whitesboro 2nd - Holliday 3rd - Howe PRELIMS (Definitely Made It) 4th - Pilot Point 5th - Pottsboro 6th - Iowa Park PRELIMS (I Think Should Make It and Why) 7th - Grandview 8th, 9th, and 10th between Gunter, Millsap, Jacksboro, and Bowie. Grandview - Because they were an Area D Finalist last year, they perform later in the day. Gunter - Decent band. Later in the day performance time. Area finalist last year. Millsap - Mid in Area D. I believe that Area D is harder than Area B. They perform later in the day, with not bad, but not so good bands after them. I have seen their show, and I think it's pretty good for beginning/mid of season and has a higher difficulty than previous years. Jacksboro - Close finalist last year. Multiple bands ahead last year have moved out, and they have a relatively later performance time. Bowie - Sort of close to finals last year. Same reasons as Jacksboro, but I have seen their percussion. Maybe if they clean things up, they'll have a better chance at making it, but I could be wrong. I have never predicted stuff before. I just recently got into this, so I could be way off on these rankings. Quote

I can tell you it was pretty good. Their shoe name is something like Airline Eagle. They are smaller then last year, I think I read they had around 225 at state last year. There were probably 150, which is still good. Some parts weren't all clean or together, but overall, I think they have a really good chance at top 5 at state again. Definitely gonna be neck and neck with Whitesboro at Area. Quote

TexasStrangers Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 My guess is they didn't march. I just went to their Facebook page and it only looks like they might have 25 kids in their band for a 3A school. Quote
CaelusSky22 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Due to the number of bands not advancing to the Area contest and the lower number of finals spots, my rankings have changed a bit. (BASED ON ORDER AND PREVIOUS YEAR PLACEMENTS/SOME OF THIS YEARS CONTESTS I'VE BEEN AT) 1st - Holliday (Only because Holliday performs later in the day. I still think it will be really close) 2nd - Whitesboro 3rd - Howe (Due to a slightly later performance time and performing right after Comanche. I also think the Region 25 judging might have been a little harsh today, yet they still got straight 1's) 4th - Iowa Park (Due to performing right after Whitesboro) Last 3 Will Be Close 5th - Pilot Point 6th - Pottsboro (Depending on how their run goes. They perform after Howe, so I guess they could be ranked lower due to that) 7th - Grandview (Good band. Area finals in Area D the previous years.) Possible Outsiders That Might Make It Millsap (Decently clean show. More challenging show than other 3A from what I saw at Region 7 South today. Good chance with later spot, but they do go after Holliday) Bowie (Pretty good performance {The ones I've seen} and I think there's a chance, definitely with the later spot they have) I don't really see any other band having a shot, especially with the small number of spots this year. I wish the best of luck to all of the bands competing next Saturday. Quote
TexasStrangers Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I have heard that Whitesboro has fallen a bit since last year. I know they got beat by Mineola at Princeton and got beat by Commerce at BOA Prosper. Quote
