This show is going to be fun to watch develop. Ripping runs from brass and woodwinds. There's some great articulation across the field. I mention "too much bass" in one part of this video and it doesn't translate in the video. But there is a synth bass that is way too loud at the point just before that so that instead of an addition to the show it became the feature of the show. Once they get that under control it's going to be a super effective part of the show. Great performance tonight Vandy. It did feel good to leave a CP --Vandy game where CP wasn't just demolished during the show on either side of the main event. Expand This is going to be incredible during the end season! J-Mike16 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Not posting a video yet again of Lumberton (Not yet at least) but they were absolutely amazing tonight. Performed about half of the show, and that "ballad" hit was strong. So excited for these next couple months! Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Skip to 1:29:30 to catch Cedar Ridge, if you're willing to deal with some (seriously) choppy sound lmao I was already pretty impressed with the visual tie-in to the theme with choreography and drill, but it's even better with music in! josephbandfan and Detroit Rock City 2 Quote

This is the best I have seen them in week 2 since I started going to all of their performance in 2015. The marching form is advanced beyond anything I've ever seen from CP this early (as a whole). The guard is gigantic (finally) for Cedar Park! They were at a little disadvantage tonight as their front ensemble truck did not make the game. The front ensemble features were mostly silent for the show tonight. Luckily Vandy allowed the front ensemble to use their set. Mighty sporting of Vandegrift. LISD is truly One Team. I hate how this phone compresses the audio. They were much more dynamic than this video's recording but, it's what I had on me. And this video should clear up as it finishes processing Expand Thanks for posting! I'm always down on the sidelines and never get to see these views until much later in the year. You'd think my wife would video for us, but she gets so caught up in the show she has no desire What actually happened was the semi trailer blew a tire in our parking lot. Good thing it wasn't on the road. We were able to get back to the band pad and then unloaded the entire thing into our box truck (would normally be for props but no props until next week). We needed another box truck and Leander had an extra one we could borrow. It took a while but ultimately we were able to get everything over to Gupton Stadium other than the synth and other electronics, plus front ensemble. But as you said, the Vandy band loaned us theirs, plus their electronics/mic system so at least one of the solos was able to be mic'd. Between generous loan of the Leander box truck and the Vandy front ensemble, it really is a case of the LISD being One Team, a family. I was incredibly impressed with how the kids and directors just reacted and adjusted, they were unflappable. It says a lot about those countless hours of training through the hot summer days. And like you, I've never seen CP look this good in week2 of the season. They're going to be ready for State and Grand Nationals. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the show, and it also didn't hurt that CP won the game 49-46 in 3OT. First time in 6 years the varsity have beaten Vandegrift. natertater21000, MikeKyu and LeanderMomma 2 1 Quote
natertater21000 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Leander ISD was killer last year (as always) but I feel like this year is going to blow 2023 out of the water. Super cool products that are being performed at a much higher level in early September than years past. I haven’t seen Rouse yet, but I do get the pleasure of hearing their impacts echo across my apartment complex each day after work. They sound like they haven’t skipped a beat from last year as well. If anyone is able to make it out to BOA austin or lisd festival of bands you most definitely should go! LeanderMomma 1 Quote

packwick Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 went to a video game and star wars heavy metal cover band concert last nite, catching up on foosball perfs now. the partial h-town report: cyfair every bit as good as last yr right now methinks, maaaybe even better? maybe maybe?? we'll have to wait and see. loving their music, all the texture, evocative. sara bareyrrealuss, or whatever her name is. this perc writing is pretty baller. vis ofc needs some cleaning but whose doesn't? think it looks cool tho. thinkin they could snag a 1st place mGE judge or two again at the Houston regionals like they did at west Houston last yr? maybe?? will be tough. woodlands pretty clean already. balance and tuning issues w/ the complex chord at the end of part one, but fairly locked in besides that. gotta say tho, this first minute and a half looks easy besides the guard, think the winds march + play for like 5 secs. takin' the Big Easy too close to heart maybe lol. leaves em a lil vulnerable in certain POCs methinks. hope the rest brings bigger moments, more excitement. guard already cleaner than 99% of guards get by end season, with the hardest book. buuut i also think the equipment choreo could be more w/ the character of the music, more of a loose, jazzy swagger. Bridgeland looks fab again, haven't heard the music. bet they sound pretty good tho. probably, right? pure eleganza in this drill!! eleganza!! guard still huge, not quiiiite as clean as they were last yr at this time, but i think wind was a factor, rifle toss height seemed weirdly low, like they adjusted it for weather maybe?? cause the spinning phrases still looked open class. both them and cy fair are possibly gettin consistent, late season finals worthy like Pearland, cool to see. Indy, here they come!!! Rubisco 1 Quote
