Football 🏈 Halftime Shows

Recommended Posts

I love the Woodlands Show. It's one of my favorites at the moment! A bit biased since I'm from New Orleans.

My son's senior year at CyFair is going great. The kids are loving it and are having a blast. I personally think it's better than last year.

Haven't seen Bridgeland. Very interested to see if they have the same UIL based show/formula or if they are pushing a more unique design this year.

My son has a video of Cy-Woods and Jordan HS. Huge improvements for both of those programs!

Looking to be an exciting year.

Southlake Carroll v Hebron

Southlake Carroll's starts at about 2:40:00

(Unfortunately, it seems the commentators also start talking during Hebron's performance...)

Hebron's starts around 2:51:20

Game last night on  9/6/24

Edit: Video taken down.

Honestly the fact that Hebron has the power to take down an entire football game so that they’re performance gets cut out is crazy to me.

went to a video game and star wars heavy metal cover band concert last nite, catching up on foosball perfs now. the partial h-town report:

cyfair every bit as good as last yr right now methinks, maaaybe even better? maybe maybe?? we'll have to wait and see. loving their music, all the texture, evocative. sara bareyrrealuss, or whatever her name is. this perc writing is pretty baller. vis ofc needs some cleaning but whose doesn't? think it looks cool tho. thinkin they could snag a 1st place mGE judge or two again at the Houston regionals like they did at west Houston last yr? maybe?? will be tough.

woodlands pretty clean already. balance and tuning issues w/ the complex chord at the end of part one, but fairly locked in besides that. gotta say tho, this first minute and a half looks easy besides the guard, think the winds march + play for like 5 secs. takin' the Big Easy too close to heart maybe lol. leaves em a lil vulnerable in certain POCs methinks. hope the rest brings bigger moments, more excitement. guard already cleaner than 99% of guards get by end season, with the hardest book. buuut i also think the equipment choreo could be more w/ the character of the music, more of a loose, jazzy swagger.

Bridgeland looks fab again, haven't heard the music. bet they sound pretty good tho. probably, right? pure eleganza in this drill!! eleganza!! guard still huge, not quiiiite as clean as they were last yr at this time, but i think wind was a factor, rifle toss height seemed weirdly low, like they adjusted it for weather maybe?? cause the spinning phrases still looked open class. both them and cy fair are possibly gettin consistent, late season finals worthy like Pearland, cool to see. Indy, here they come!!!

Bridgeland did not do any throws because of the wind .

Thats crazy they took it down, but Im glad I got a chance to look at it lol.

The show honestly feels like a pretty decent step down in difficulty overall, but considering the dirt they had last year its for the best. Visually it already looks so much better and will be a UIL beast for sure, but Vandegrift will most likely beat them at BOA and the SMBC, unless the rest of the show is up to Vandegrift difficulty with cleaner everything

Bridgeland is fast and highly technical. A lot of symmetry, difficult lines and grids, rotating and meshing at very high tempos. Music is dark, big minor chords. Is that uil or boa, I don’t know. Execution will make or break this  year. I think they are aiming very high for grand nats. The difficulty of the show is significantly higher than last year.

Does anyone have a video of bridgeland?

They will do whatever they can to make sure there is no video of them lol.

If you notice - once competition season is over, they don't care what is posted.   They want to keep the surprises for the people in the stands.  The show isn't done until the last performance - they don't want a posting of an incomplete show to influence any one - including potential judges.  (and if you don't think that judges watch shows online - they do)

So yes - they have videos taken down.  I don't see how its such a bad thing

Here’s a couple of our Indian bands! I’m LOVING Castle this year! They sound fantastic, love the BD 23 opener, those costumes are sick, and it’s definitely one that could shock some people this season. Avons looking and sounding great as well!

Castle:

Avon:

yesss, Castle is on an upswing, looks like. verry very impressive. may make a strong case for Nats finals again.

Avon fab as always. was wondering what the Russian connection to Piet Mondrian is lol, but think they're just going for the feel of the music. could look a little more Mondriesque methinks but will wait until i see it from a better angle.

Oh I know how it works when it comes to Hebron. I dont think its a bad thing. I also dont think you need jump on mine or anyone else's back.

I understand your point. Lumberton used to allow videos up until 2015 when another band watched our show and copied some of our formations. Later in the season, they ended up going to State and we did not.

So, I see pros and cons with videos being online.

Reagan's show, which u can find on Hudl, is WILD!! it's a lil "all over the map" musically but it's super exciting too. HUGE opening statement, then the angel falls, perc gets a lil off-kilter and clunky, humorously, then it's just like pure aggression for several minutes. it's familiar in many ways but also stands out as prob the hardest show Reagan has done in many years. just gotta cleaaaaan.

Its not halftime, but Brownsburg's competition is "On Demand" online for now.  If you start around the 7 Hr mark you'll find 8 Indiana big bands spaced about every 15 mins. I am are so far out of the loop now as our kids have been out for 5 years.   https://reflect-bcsctv-brownsburg.cablecast.tv/CablecastPublicSite/show/1499?site=1

I watched it earlier, along with Avon, Carmel and Castle, and I LOVED it!
