What do you guys think are the loudest band in each class? 1a-6a

what does a shotgun mic exactly do for marching band? Increase the sounds of certain players, or the whole band?

It spreads out over a large area I'm pretty sure

Back when Cedar Park was in the old 5A they were probably the loudest HS marching band I had heard. When Scott Mason was still alive and at Coppell they put out an immense wave of sound, too.

Shotgun mics are designed to pick up a very narrow diameter cone of sound over a long distance (usually)  and are not ever used by any band. This meme of shotgun mics in Texas is really just an incredible flaunting of ignorance mixed with scary sounding terms.
