Anyone know the size of NISD? With Sotomayor, I think it's 12 6A schools. Is that 3 or 4 advancing bands (assuming everyone advances)?

My predictions:

1. Vandegrift

2. Vista Ridge

3. Westlake

4. Lake Travis

5. Brandeis

6. Del Rio

7. Brennan

8. Steele

9. Taft

10. Harlan

Im pretty confident about 1-4. If Brandeis happens to have a spectacular show, and Lake Travis has a bad run, there could be a big shake up. Honestly though, Brandeis is the only band I could see breaking into the 4.

6-10 could be anyone. I do think Del Rio has been proving themselves more and more each year, so I'd consider them a lock for finals. If they have an awesome run, they might even grab the alternate spot.

I can see Sotomayor in the Finals this year. They had a great showing at BOA McAllen, placing above Del Rio. I can see them in the 6th-8th spot depending on the run.

Maybe. That's kinda the thing with NISD bands (and I'll lump Del Rio in since they're around the same caliber). Early season you may see very high scores only for other bands to peak right around area. This makes NISD kinda hard to rank (apart from Brandeis which consistently outranks schools in the district at UIL).

I'll probably check out the US Bands Austin competition this week. Maybe I can form a more educated not based on last year.

Region 29 Contest schedule is finally posted.

Region 32: Saturday, October 19th, Dub Farris Athletic Complex - San Antonio

6:00 - Holmes

6:15 - Marshall

6:30 - Sotomayor

6:45 - Warren

7:00 - Clark

7:15 - Harlan

7:30 - Brandeis

8:00 - Brennan

8:15 - O'Connor

8:30 - Taft

9:00 - Stevens

So, 22 bands total. Need to have two or fewer 2s to get four state slots.

That is tough. Hoping this area gets to take four. Otherwise it looks like Lake Travis or Westlake would be out.

This area has always been very top-heavy but also a very tough break to state. I remember in 2018 Leander barely made it out thanks to the "bad judge" rule.

I believe all NISD bands will get 1s. At least NISD used to have a soft rule that your band gets a 1 or else you'll get a new director the next year. I wonder though, did Jay drop down to 5A?

After these last few weeks, I won't change my predictions for 1-3. I'm almost 100% confident about 4 being Lake Travis and 5 being Brandeis, though if there is a significant shake up, it'll be there.

6-10 could be any of these bands in any order. If I had to order them though:

6. Steele

7. Taft

8. Stevens

9. Del Rio

10. Brennan

------

11. Sotomayor

12. O'Connor

It'll be interesting to watch.

8:00 - Glenn

8:15 - Liberty Hill

8:30 - Rouse

8:45 - Westlake

9:00 - Vandegrift

9:15 - Lake Travis
