braddddd Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 This contest is gonna be ridiculously close for the last 2 spots to make state. I've worked up close with 3 of these bands over the last 3 weeks and these are my predictions: 1. Ronald Reagan 2. Round Rock 3. Cedar Ridge 4. Bowie 5. McNeil 6. Dripping Springs 7. CTJ 8. Westwood 9. Churchill 10. M&G Johnson Quote
braddddd Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Also there is a chance of rain and lightning throughout the day, they will continue to delay the contest if needed. However if they calculate after prelims that they will not able to fit all the finalist bands in by midnight, they will treat prelim results as finals results. Hope that doesn't happen because results could be a lot different. Quote
qwertytb12 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 well they could also move it to sunday Quote

Nope...would never happen. Historically, prelim results become final results when finals can't happen. Quote
qwertytb12 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I mean all the other areas have backup dates, but this would realistically only happen if all prelims bands cant get it so if all prelims went and all finals coudlt go then they would just count prelims Quote

Miyazuu Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I forgot how unforgiving the acoustics of Heros Stadium is. Any small stick out or weirdness is heard tenfold. On the plus side, it also amplifies things that can be harder to hear sometimes. Quote

McNeil just finished 4th in last night's BOA St Louis Super Regional...which will probably be a better finish for them than at this year's Area D competition sadly. Also, Timber Creek (who McNeil beat at last night competition) will probably advance to state for the third year in a row this year...even though McNeil will probably not. And in neither of Timber Creek's two previous trips to state did Timber Creek beat any Area D competitors those years. This area is insane. Expand As predicted, for the third year in a row, Timber Creek advanced to state last night and McNeil did not. I also predict that for the third year in a row, Timber Creek will not beat an Area D participant at state prelims. And frankly, I'd be surprised if any Area B participant outside of Coppell beats an Area D participant. I'll also add that given how tight the scores were for 6th-9th place that all four of those bands would do extremely well at state prelims and beat every non-Coppell Area B participant. Quote
Miyazuu Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Those 10th place scores in CTJ, RR, and Bowie prelims scores is insane work in true UIL fashion. Bowie's placement drop is unfortunate but McNeil, Westwood, and MGJ did have solid finals runs. I hoped to see some movement of top/bottom half but top 5 generally held steady give or take a few things during their respective runs. This time last year we would've already had our 6A state results so I wonder how much 3 days of rehearsal + BOASA will change how Area D does against each other in state. bchorn 1 Quote
