UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2024 (Nov. 13)

Someone was asking for a 4A topic, so here it is!

Calling it now, Panther Creek is going to be the 4A state marching champion.

I think there will be 12 Finalists this year.

It'll be another great year.  4A quality has increased pretty dramatically and it's exciting to see bands from almost every part of the state being very competitive.  Quality of shows and performances is only going up, should be a blast at state again.

I agree. I have only seen videos but they are Solid for sure! I also think the bands from Area A are going to bring it. Canyon is looking really strong.

Having seen one bootleg video of Panther Creek:

They are going to win State, and it’s not going to be close.  The demand is off the charts for 4A and they’re pulling it off pretty well for early October.  I can’t imagine the horror of any band going after them in the Alamodome.  
 

Having also just seen China Spring live:

Possible medal incoming.  All the usual tiny nitpicks I have are pretty tiny.  The biggest problem I have is phrasing and the occasional balance issue.  There’s some tuning stuff, but that’s always there.

I liked China Spring's show. Hope it does well at state!

My predictions so far are 

1st: Panther Creek

2nd: Sulphur Springs

3rd: Celina

4th: China Spring

5th: Canton

6th: Davenport

7th: Farmersville

8th: Canyon

9th: Calallen

10th: Lumberton (could be multiple other bands as well for this spot)

I do think Farmersville should be put obove canton since Farmersville beat alvarado earlier this season and Alvarado beat canton. Sulphut springs did beat Farmersville yesterday at royse city prelims, so I think that's pretty accurate in placement, however it'll be interesting to see how they stack up against china springs. I haven't seen their show yet, but I'm sure they are definitely competing for those medals. The top 5 are neck and neck, anyone could really take them, although I think panther creek is pretty much sitting at that first place podium already.

For sure, 2nd-5th place could be literally anyone! Panther Creek is definitely taking the gold this year they are killing it out there! But we will see.

Saw the Farmersville show last night in Celina. Very clean and crisp I could see State Finals and maybe a Top 5 Finish.

Everybody's sleeping on Krum, but I think there's Finals potential there out of Area B.

how do people think Gatesville will do? their show has dramatically increased in specific areas compared to their 2023 show, and their 2023 show scored 12th, when there was 10 finalists. possible finals spot for them i believe, especially since their first ever contest at BOA they got a higher visual score in prelims than Liberty Hill (5A), which we all find suprising, since Gatesville was a 1A for BOA and all the other schools were 3A's and 4A's

i agree, there have been a lot of incoming 4A's, including Brock, which since they just came from 3A, their show is honestly quite amazing, i hope they do very well this season.

for some reason i have never heard of Farmersville, did they come from 5A/3A? or are they a new school like Panther Creek?

1st: Panther Creek

2nd: Celina

3rd: Sulphur Springs (very close point diff with celina)

4th: China Spring

5th: Farmersville

6th: Davenport

7th: Calallen

8th: West Plains

9th: Canyon

10th: Lumberton

Farmersville is not a new school and have been 4A since at least 2022.

Farmersville has been 4A for many years. The get to Area but never seem to make it to State because the 4A Area they are in is just brutal. However, I think their show has a chance. They have won overall 1st in 2 competitions this year and have gotten 2nd in 2 others. The sax solo in the show is very moving and full of emotion.

okay sorry for my confusion, if they're being placed in state finals then the area they have been in mustve been really brutal. was it old area b/ area a?

I agree vith this. Farmersville’s show is very interesting and I really enjoy the solos. The guard is especially phenomenal and I can’t vait to see how far they can get this year.

If I'm being full honest, their show in 2022 could've made state finals with very little difficulty, but they have been in old Area B since they moved into 4a in 2018 after getting 2nd state at the 3a level. You can find a video on yt for their 2022 show. They got 1st alternate 2 years in a row, 2022 and 2023, so yes they are a great band, but just absolutely brutal areas that they have been in and it placed them in the shadows of area B for many years.

I am predicting that this year ee will have state finalists that no one has heard of. For example, Farmersville will probably be there due to them being successful at old area b which always took home the medals. We will see finalists that either moved from area b to another area or stayed there. Area b bands are just that good. Krum is seeming to stir up some attention

I have heard rumors that Panther Creek is a feeder school for Hebron, does anyone know if this is true?

Panther Creek is Frisco ISD. So, no.
